7th: Beyblade Metal Saga. Sonic X may have been the first anime I watched, but the Beyblade Metal Saga was my gateway show that got me into more anime. I actually think the Metal Saga is a much better show than the original one. The characters are slightly better, the visuals are better, the background music is good and it has a great story.
6th: Death Note has this awesome he knows that I knows scenario. It reminds me alot of breaking bad were the main character starts of good, but becomes obsessed with his new hobby that he turns evil. The animation is great and editing as well as the pacing.
5th: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. This remake of the original show is just such a interesting anime. I love the theme songs and end credits sings in this show. The characters are great and the show gets very dark, very quick. I will say this, DON'T WATCH THE DUB. It is painfully bad.
4tH AND 3RD: The Naruto Series: This show was the first anime I watched with subtitles on. It was a much better move as I came to realize that the Japanese acting is so much real and less cringe than the English db, which was like watching a cartoon. Naruto starts of as a loser kid and has to get stronger to be Hokage, the president of his village. It is so satisfying seeing this kid grow up and get stronger and prove every single person who doubted him wrong.
2nd: Erased: This show came out at a time when I nearly gave up on anime. After watching the terrible Hunter x Hunter, I thought all anime's were just pointless, predictable shows. How wrong was I when I binged Erased in a weekend. It was such a great concept. A 28 year old man travels back in time into his 11 year old body and has to solve a murder mystery. It was such a great concept executed so well.
1st: My number one favorite anime show of all time is Attack on Titan. This show is pure awesomeness. It was the first proper anime I watched after Beyblade. This show just shocked me so much, I started having nightmare about me getting shocked about the show. The show features Eren, a 15 year old boy who wants to get revenge on titans, after they destroy his home town. Now the show is about to air it's 3rd season, but I got so bored with waiting that I read the manga. OMG! I have never seen a series which changes drastically. I mean, I'm reading a completely different series. The animation and visuals in the anime is defiantly the best I have seen in any anime TV show. The angles, the lighting, the motion. my gosh, it's near perfection. I started watching this show in English dub and must say that it is the best dub I have heard in an anime. I heard the Japanese version and must say that the voices don't fit some of the characters, partially the main cast.I don't know, maybe would get used to it, but for now, it's dubbed. I 100% HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this show and the manga to you guys. Just make sure you are over 15 years old, as this show is not for the faint hearted.
Shingeki no kyojin: That Day (2019)
'Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering'.
This was SHOCKINGLY AMAZING and TRAGIC. I already read this part of the manga years ago and already knew what was coming. But the animation, visual look, voice acting and OST were brilliant.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
A unexpected, strange, yet unsatisfying end to a legendary show.
OK! NOw before I review this episode, let me tell you how much I LOVE this show. I have loved this show since I started binigng Season 1-4 around Halloween in 2014. I was about 17 years old and tat the time, I didn't watch that many mature TV shows or movies. I was only watching the PG to 12 rated stuff. IU had just finished watching Attack on Titan being horrified and entertained by it, thinking that know other show could match or even supass that anime. Thats when I decided to give Game of Thrones a watch because I herd soooo many people online talking about it and praising it to death. All my friends were in on it so I gave it wa watch thinking it was some crappy dungons and dragongs Lord of the Rings crap thing. But OH BOY was I wrong. The show is so much a grounded in reality show where not everything goes the way it does, but it makes sense in a logical stand point. From the first episode were Jamie pushes Bran of the tower, I was HOOKED. and I have loved alll the season and watched them over and over again.
But then around the halfway point of season 6, something happeneded. I started to realize that the pacing and the wringing and direction of the show was starting to become a tad predicibale. Certain sotrylines became somewhat medioce, particually Dany's storyline in merren. I started to lose interest, but then we had GREAT episode like the door, battle of the B and that SMASHING series finale, winds of winter. I was HYPED for season 7. And this is where the show started to lose it's magic. The pacing and sorylines felt SOOO rushed that it confused me at times. Characters making stupid mistakes and jugdments like John going on an expediction to capture a white walker was so DUMB. But then the series finale of season 7 was great, so I was somewhat hyped for the finale. And it didntt disapoint. I LOVED the first 3 episode of season 8. They were considerbly better than most of season 7. But then episode 4, i wasn't as invested in the ewpisode and episode 5was like WOW. I didn't expect it and I may be the only person who thinks that it made sense. BUT! I wish they developed Dany's villian arc a little more.
This season and the last should of had 10 episode. But the showrunners fell like they are in a rush to end it. Just let the audience soak in whats happening in stead of rushing it. THATS what made the first 6 seaosn amazing. This finale was GREAT and STRANGE, but not in a good way. I didn;t really like that they sent Jon back to the wall. It felt Tragically unsatisfying. That was the WORST part of the episode. It was like, we had years and years of build up, two seasons teasing he is a targarion and then it doesn't matter in the end. WOW!
Everything else somewhat worked. I a mixed on Bran being the King, but IU feel like it mkes sense and I liekd Arya leaving and travelling. Sansa being the Queen of the North. Tyrion finding Jamie and Cersi. All so intense. But yea. I think I am going to read the books and wait for Goerooge RR Maetain to finish the last two, as I feel like his version will pace it better. This seaosn has also made me want to read the novels of popular tv shows and movies. I am about to read the Harry Potter books tommorow and I am cuirous on what they missed out and if its better or worse than the movies. Becausee I LOVE the movies. But yea.
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
Well acted, but kinda bland and predictable.
I will say that this film is better than I expected, but it is just so bland and boring and predictable.
A fascinating, time-travel mystory.
When i watched the firsr episode of Stiens Gate, I was not impressed at all. However, as the show went on, I suddenly found myself hooked to this show. Steins Gate is about this man who creates a time machine and a series of strange events ensure. I don't qant to ruin the show bur it is really good. The first half of the season is just the characters trying to make a time machine work. Tbere isn't much in terma of action, but it truly makes up for a series of interesting chracater dynamics. Honestly, all the chsracters in this show are all uniqe and just fsscinating to watch. I could just watch them all day in their lab bassement chatting away. And that is what the first half of the series is. Just these amazing characters working off one another and solving certain puzzles involving time travel. I watched this in english dub and bave to admit that tbis is the BEST englisb dub of an anime series I have beard so far. They way they talk just feels so natrual. There is a scene where a certain characters hot head gets the best of them when he accedently dtarts yelling at a girl and then she starts crying. This character doesn't know how to respond to this as they have never really made anyone cry beforw and the rest of the scene is them just kinda mopeing. There is just something 'Real' about this scene as I have witnessed or experienced something like that before. The story is also very fascinating and just binge worthy stuff. Tbe second half of the show is where thjngs really, REALLY kick off. Something unexpected happens that a certain character has to use time travel to go back in time and try and fix that problem. What ensres is just entertainong yet terribly tragic. You just see how that unexpected event has effectes them and how far they are willing to go to fix that problem.
The animation is just amazing. I love the backgrounds, even the charater designs. My only complaints about this show is that the some of the scientific stuff does go over my head sometimws and the whole time teavel thing kinda confuses me at times. Bit apart from that, I 100% recommend yoy to give this show a watch. 😁👍🏾
The Hunger Games (2012)
Wonderful cinematography and acting, eith an interesting plot.
I will admit that tbe acting is very good in this film. I really love the cinematography in this film and the plot. It hss an interesting set up. But the film doean't quite have that spark. Maybe in the following films to come, but I wasn't as engaged with it.
An excellent action-packed anime, with a gripping plot.
Code Geass Lelouch pf the Rebellion is about a 17 year old boy named Lecouch who gets a mysteros power named Geass which is aalble to control the thoughts and opinians of anyone who looks into his eyes. With his new power, the exiled prince of britannia vows to take down the leader of britannia, where he aims to create a world of light and hope for his little sister. A world without war, discrimination and injustice. I watched the firsr episode of thisbshow a few yeara back and sisn't really like it at all. I wanted it to be darker. But the firsrt episode didn't hook me at all. So I ignored it. Until I started to see how much praise peopmw gave the show. I got the ending of the show spoiled. So I knew what the fate of a certain character. But Indisn't know how it lead uo to that, so I gave the show a watch and watched past episode 1 and OMG, thia show is AMAZING. It is like if Death Note and Fullmetal Alchmist had a baby together. It really feela alot like those two shows, but it's different enough and more original foe me to not care too much. Leloucb is possibly on of my favourite main characters in anime. He uses that intelligent brain of his, combined with the geaas and you have this really skilfully, tactical man. Even the other main charactera like Suzaku, Colin, C2 are all so AMAZING. The animation, for a 2006 anime still holds up today. I cannot belive this show came out when I was 9 years old. It still looks AMAZING. The soundtrack is very good. There was nothing I really hated about this show, but maybe in terms id my mixed feelings, I would say the voice acting. I am quite split on this because when the englisb dub voice acting is good, it is really REALLY good. But when it is bad, it is really REALLY cringe bad. I would say the voice acting of Lelouch's little sister is possibly one of the WORST acting I have heard. It makes me cringe every time she speaks, although her actinf gets a tad better. Also, the pacing of the show seems a little too fast at times. I mean, there are some BIG revelations and suprises that happen and you dom't even have time to soak in what has hapoenes because it just foes on to the next thing very quickly. It's ironic because I loved the Naruot series, but the pacing was sooook slow, it felr like the show disn't get anywhere. But with this show, the pacing was so fast and snappy, you can't seem to enjoy certajn things. So if the pacing waa inbetween slow and faat, this could have been a perfect show. But, thoae are just my mixed feelings of it, overwise, a suprisingly entertaining show, with great animatiom, sounstrack and a grwst plot with deep messages. I 100% recommend giving thia show a watch, especially on blu-ray. 😁👍🏾
Violet Evergarden (2018)
A beautiful, heart-breaking, tragic period drama.
Violet Evergarden is about a teenage girl who, after fighring in a war is sent to a letter angency and becomes a 'Doll' to help people write letters. I won't say anything more, as you nees to watch this show to understand. Violet Evergarden may be one of my favourite female protagonist. The story is incredibly beautiful, tragic, entertaining, funny and heart-wrenching. The characters Violet comes into contact with are very real people with great, heart-wrenching back stories. The animation and soundtrack are soooo AMAZING, you would think you are watching 13 mini movies. But MY GOSH, the english dub voice acting is AMAZING. The only complaint I hace is that they kinda rush the plot of the last two episodes. But that is ok, as we have a secons season coming soon. Overall, I 100% recommned watcbing this extraordinary show. 😁👍🏾
One Punch Man: Wanpanman (2015)
An overhyped show, with impressive animation.
Of all the anime's I havr watched, this is probally the most overhypes series i have ever seen. The animation may be fantastic, but i was bored out of my mind. The plot is kinda weird. It doesn't really go anywhere until the last 4 episodes. I was just BEGGING it to end. I personally feel like My Hero Academia dis the whole superhero thing better. They wrre far more interesring characters, with great backstorys and motivation. With One Punch Man, I felt NOTHING for him. I will only recommens this show as the visuals are amazing, but PLEASE watch my hero.
A much better, improved second half of the first season.
Before I review this, I need to explain something that will make you understand the show a bit better. Ever single episode from episode 16 onwards was all filler. So around the time when Rin's friends found out he was the son of satin, every episode from thwt point on was filler. This wss because the animation studio caughr up with thw manga and had to make an original ending. So, 6 yeara later, we finally have a true ending to season one. Because of this, certain characters seem to acr differently to Rin being a demon than the 2011 anime series. Personally, I really likes this seriea. Not only did they improve on the animation and story telling, but the male voice acting was dar better than the original series. I won't spoil anything, but pleasw watch season one up to episode 16, then watch this series. It will make so much sense.
Visally amazing, with an interesting story.
Even though the movie is filler to the show; it does have veru impressive animation, background designs and soundtrack. Once again, I do love all the female voice acting and the dudes who voice Rin and Yukio. I would give this a, but please watch the anome series first. You will understand the personality of certain characters.
Ao no ekusoshisuto (2011)
An entertaining series, despite being predictable
I have to admit that I did find this show ok. The plot was pretty much your typical shonun jump series. A boy who is a half demon wants to become an exorcist and take down satin. Together with his brother, they enroll into a excorist school and learn the ropes of being an excorist. I have seen this type of story FAR too many times. But I feel like it is done quite well. The characters are enjoyable and charming, the animation is pretty good and the story is ok. I feel like the final few episodes felt a bit too rushed, but there is a reason. It dis suprise ke when I found out why the laet few episodes were rushed, but I will explain it in my Kyoto Saga review. This was the first anime in a long, LONG time were I actually watched the dub firsr. I do have mixed feelings with it, but not what yoy are thinking. Firsr off, I cannot stand any of the male voice acting, especially the really old characters. Rim's voice actor I think was the guy who voiced Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan and thought he sounded good. The only male character who sounded really good was Yukio. That voice acting waa one of the best male voice actors I have heard in a while. But that's it, all the male's sound AWFUL. On the other hand, all the female characters sound AMAZING, which is ironic. So, all in all, a pretty sub standard show, but if you are getting into anime for the first time, give thos show a watch.
Smokey and the Bandit (1977)
A fun film, with a slow pace.
Despite tbe action packed car chase scenes, I felt like the film dragged on, deapite it veing 1 hour 32 mins long. I like the performances and it is entertaining. Just not my cup of tea.
The Family Stone (2005)
A painfully predictable, bland festive flick.
Apart from some really well acted scenes, this film is a bore, despite it's short runtime.
Lady Bird (2017)
A very well directed, well acted coming of age film.
I must admit that this filn was very different to what I expected. I thought the film was about royalty or something like that, but what I got was this really engaging comedy-drama set in 2002. I really enjoyed it. I love the main character actressbof Lady Bird as well as all the other performances. An overall really great film, which I 100% recommend to watch. 😁👍🏾
About a Boy (2002)
A smart, funny, entertaining comedy-drama.
Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hult steal the film ss playing a 38 year old man who befriends a 12 year old boy. I love the friendship between them. I also love the performances feom every other character. This is a must see. 😁👍🏾
Finding Nemo (2003)
Visually appealing animation and great plot.
The animation after 15 years still looks amazing. I love thw story as well. Although it is slow at parts, it is still a must see. 😁👍🏾
Mind blowing animation, with an ok plot.
Wow! My gosbh, the animation is the BEST of the trilogy and of amy sony animatiom. It looms so fluid, brighr abd vibrant. J love the characters, but have to say that the plot or the villans weren't interesring. The finale act gets a little 'weird', but it's overall a decent flick.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018)
A visually wonderful movie, with a somewhat decent end.
Ok! Before I review this film, I would quickly talk about the previous films and books. I watches the first Maze Runner and thoughr it was an amazing film. Possibly the best Young adult film sincw the Harry Potter films. Then I watches the second film and thought it was ok. Then I read all three of the books. The first was wss good, the second one was great and the third book was ok. But when I rewatced the two movies before this one, my opinians completely changed. I was suprised by how much they changed and altered the first movie. But the second movie I was SHOCMED by then pretty much remaking the story. I was pisses by this change as certai characters are either completely pushes aside or changed. The third one I felt the same way. The only thing I liked about the movies were the guys who played Gally and Chuck. I also LOVED the cinematography and VFX. They looked amazing. But the amazing plots of the booms were totally changed. I have very mixed feelings as I can understand why they did this. Certain things written in the books wouldn't have worked as well on film. They also had to alter certain plot moments to make it more cinematic. But other times they remove really amazing plot elemts from the books and add stuff in. So, to be honest, I would recommend reading the books first and then watching the films.
Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015)
A fast paced, funny sequal, with dazzaling animation.
This movie's animation is just a fast paced, witty and entertaining. I do like the story and the characters new and old are all interesting. Although it's not as fresh as the firsr one, it is still an entertaing sequal.
(500) Days of Summer (2009)
A realistic love story, with amazing acting.
Marc Webb really directs such an amazing love story. I don't like chick flicks but this one film is pretty damm good. The romamce felt real and I can actually see tbis happening to me. I 100% relate to thr main character Tom. I just think it's a great romantic film. I 100% recommned giving this a watch. 😁👍🏾
Hotel Transylvania (2012)
A visually appealing animation.
First off, I love the aninatiom. It is so fluid, especially for a 3D animation. I love the story; and love the pacing of the film. The one and only thing I HATE about this film is final scene. I won't spoil it, but it is painful and forced. But apart from that, it's a film I 100% recommened; especially during Halloween.😁👍🏾
Monsters, Inc. (2001)
An entertaining, Pixar flick.
Oh man, watching this film again filks me with so much nostalgia. I remember watching this film so many times when it was on tv. I really love the story and characters. Even the anination is still pretty good. It may not be as amazing as when I was a kid, but it's still a great film I 100% recommened. 😁👍🏾
A somewhat decent remake, with very nice visuals.
This remake is nothing special. I mean, it does add and extend certain things from the original but it is very meh. The only thing I liked about the film is how they handled the prince. He does have somewhat of a personality now than the original. The cinematography and visal effects are quite good. But, even though the original 1950's animated version was simple in story, the gorgeous animation and backgrounds made up foe it. So, I supoose if you want to see a somewhat decenr live action adaptation of cinderella, this is the best so far. But, if not, I's give it a skip.
Toy Story 2 (1999)
A fantastic, energetic sequal, witb alot of heart.
Not only is this film a great film, but I think it's better than the original. I love the story, characters new and old and the animatiom, with is an improvement from the first. This is defiantly one of pixar's best films, which I 100% recommend. 😁👍🏾
A Bug's Life (1998)
A fun, famliy flick.
For a 1998 CG Animatiom, it doesn't look too bad. I have to admit that this film is ok. Not as funny or stunny as Toy story, but all right.
