NO SUBTITLES for foreign speakers in this film!
I would have rated this documentary 8 or 9 out of 10, but without providing anyway of knowing what the Japanese and Chinese people were saying I dropped the rating down to 5 (out of 10).
I even turned on the subtitles on Amazon Prime video to no avail. In this regard, the filmmakers failed miserably and it was FRUSTRATING!
Too bad because I found the rest of the film very engaging and was interested in what these people had to say!
On the Basis of Sex (2018)
I really liked this film. It was entertaining in telling RBF's story.
I like Felicity Jones a lot, but it was distracting when she couldn't maintain an American accent- sort of lost some authenticity, luckily for the most part, she did a good job.
All the other actors did a great job.
Dateline NBC: The Plan (2019)
Charlene is scum and should never be allowed to roam free EVER.
She probably wanted Amber dead too. Thank God she will never be in her children's lives. By the time she gets out of the slammer the children will be grown and will know what a monster she is. She probably thinks she can fool them too. She is a sociopath psychopathic liar and doubtful she will ever change
Doesn't pass the smell test.
A bunch of people from the other side of the pond is nothing other than an attempt to discredit the young boys who he raped and abused. How much money were they paid?
He paid hush money to his victims. IF he were innocent he would not have given money- he did so because he knew he would be in prison.
He was a total freak, which is sad. He hated his looks and his own race...unfortunately. He was such a sweet looking little boy. These blokes say "you can't buy the cops"...ah, yeah it's been done before.
His sister, of course will protest for his innocence- it's her dead bro, but absolutely no credibility.
Thank You for Coming (2017)
A deposit with interest...
I really enjoyed this film! I actually thought it was a film about friendship, but quickly discovered it's more about the quest to find her biological father.
Once I understood that, I got a chuckle from from the title ;-)
I imagine the reason her mother wanted to keep the secret was probably because she must have been a very caring and sensitive lady. Maybe she wanted Sara and and her dad to keep that bond because she knew she wouldn't be around forever...and perhaps she didn't want Sara's dad to feel anything less than her father? It was a different time.
It's great that Pat turned out to be a sweet guy and wonderful that Sara met a kindred soul with Jennifer (and her lovely mom).
At the end of the day Sara is very blessed with all the rich relationships in her life, we all should be so lucky!
Great film. RECOMMEND
Evil Dangerous Psychopath
This fluff piece on Elizabeth Holmes gave her a godlike persona.
Why the filmmaker drank her kool-ade is beyond me. Too much time spent on her looking like she really did try to do a good thing. Give me a break!
She thought she was too smart to get caught, but in this case true evil lost, thankfully. She played games with people's lives and cost another his life (Ian).
Lock her away before she declares bioterrorism on those who found her out for the liar and fraud she really is.
Meeting up with all those people during the walk seemed totally planned- staged even. Orlando: don't insult the audience like this ever again, they won't forget it!
Gwen seems to want everything to be about her, even when her poor dad said that Evelyn was the best at speaking German, she had to inject herself as being better...very telling.
God bless Leon...wonder if they ever hugged Evelyn the way they hugged Leon in this film?
Perhaps this broken family may shed some light on what not to do when you have a family member in crisis. I'm certainly not saying that they are to blame, but there's a lesson here...swallow your fear and get your brother in off that limb.
Horrible acting in this episode
Hobart's poor acting (as Rose) absolutely ruined this episode. My cat could have played her character better!
I love this series, but there are a few bad episodes peppered throughout.
A decent actress could have brought some realism to the script. Too bad.
American Woman (2018)
Like another Lifetime Movie- Boring
Depressing and run of the mill. Nothing to see.
Wasted 2 hours.
A fool & your money
A tale about fraudster, Billy MacFarland and how he ripped off a bunch of shallow people along with his sidekick Ja Rule (who looked like a damn fool and an idiot!).
The only people I felt sorry for was the islanders who worked tirelessly and never got paid.
The rest of his clan (who were interviewed for this documentary) weren't innocent either (but tried to convince the viewer they were), just more of the same... greedy money-grabbing narcissistic morons who got what they deserved.
Hot Air (2018)
Taylor Russell couldn't act her way out of a paper bag.
I always enjoy Steve Cohan, but had to switch it off because the girl was cringe worthy.
Be Prepared to Stop (2017)
Roads & bridges require a great deal of sand to build- which is quickly becoming a real threat worldwide. We ALL are losing sand and shoreline due to overuse for the purpose of building stuff (roads, bridges, buildings ect).
I would like to have seen the filmmaker touch on the shortage of sand -it is now a black market enterprise. It operates like the mafia, complete with murders or whatever it takes.
Some countries have started taking the sand from the ocean floor and killing off the habitat and all that depends on it.
I appreciate the trucking industry, but we must find a better solution in fixing our infrastructure.
Uranium Drive-In (2013)
BEWARE Animal Cruelty in this film!
I am sure that if the mill were to come to fruition and caused any one of those people's child or grandchild to get cancer (for example) they would have deep regret that they chose jobs over a child's life.
When a project such as the mill has the potential to contaminate the watershed in other areas, then they too should have a voice- as it would have a direct impact on their lives too.
The one family who claimed they couldn't make it without the mill, yet found the means to open a tattoo parlor and store (where they sell fantasy nonsense) just looks like pure stupidity. Who will buy that junk when they cannot afford socks for their children? They have NO COMMON SENSE at all!
I was upset by the killing and skinning of animals, as well as branding cattle- I lowered the star ratings because of NO WARNING- I had no idea I would have that thrown at me. I thought I was watching a documentary about uranium mining and mill. Otherwise, I would have rated it 7 stars.
Katrina Cop in the Superdome (2010)
Bad cop & good cops
Lost all respect when the police officer said he was prepared to shoot anyone who crossed the line, INCLUDING CHILDREN. WTF! He has no business being in any stressful situation that may cause him to go off the deep end.
Give him a desk job and some therapy.
Comedy of errors.
No translation of French speaking participants and no subtitles - impossible to know what's going on!
As for the reporter asking about people's involvement in "theft of maple syrup"- just what did she expect? A full confession? Silliness
Dirty Money: Payday (2018)
Tucker cried all the way to PRISON!
Shady businessman, Tucker talks about the government applying relentless pressure on his brother and that's why he killed himself. HIS COMPANY did the exact same thing to the people who were taken in by their predatory lending practices. What goes around comes around.
His brother killed himself because of the guilt, knowing that he profited by taking advantage of other people's struggles.
The red neck driver trainer said that it was the government who is responsible for taking a life.
The Indian tribe was nothing more but one of Tucker's pawns
He takes credit for being a great businessman, but when incriminating documents come to light- he knows nothing about them.
They wanted special treatment, but the FBI treated them just like any other common criminal. Ha ha He should have gotten more prison time for sure.
Indecent Proposal: Raina (2015)
Didn't get the full story...
We never learn WHY she lost custody of her daughter. HOW could they take her child???
I find it hard to believe that just because she is gay that she was ruled to be an unfit mother.
I don't recommend this show because none of the episodes goes deep enough into the individual's background and/or how they get in the situation they are now in.
Hyena Road (2015)
Do NOT Recommend
Cliché after cliché. It's more like a TV movie, corny and silly.
I was expecting something watchable due to the high ratings, but it was a total letdown.
Terrible just terrible
Love All You Have Left (2017)
Do NOT RECOMMEND!
Totally unrealistic script and HORRIBLE ACTING by Caroline AMIGUET. I had to put subtitles on because she mumbled most of her lines. Then I discovered that she's married to the director- her cringe worthy performance was spun from nepotism.
Nothing seemed real. For starters, if you were to find a child hiding in your attic, wouldn't you want to investigate who she is and where she came from? The ridiculously unbelievable script was an insult to all of us.
I noticed it received a San Diego Film award- it must have been more nepotism or this particular award had no other entries.
Don't waste your time on this awful movie.
Crazy Right (2018)
Terrible -NOT RECOMMENDED
I watched this movie because at the time it had a 7.5 rating.
The lead actor may be a good actor and I would like to see him in SOMETHING ELSE!
The actress portraying the wife was a total casting error. She was awful.
I was so bored- I could have read a book during this film and never missed anything. May have been okay for a short.
Dateline NBC: The Creek (2018)
I won't give any spoilers here...the person who did this is a the worst of the worst. I hope they sit in prison and let this crime eat them alive.
I am glad they didn't get the death penalty because that would be too easy.
A beautiful little girl was taken from her wonderful family. I can't imagine what they are going through. God bless you all. I am sure she is in Heaven. xo
Underwhelming & over acted
Too bad Miss Kelly has no idea who Dorothy Day really was.
Missed the mark.
NEXT: Blockchain: Fork (2018)
Not well thought out
The captions are not on the screen long enough to read (when the Chinese participants are speaking non English), therefore it's impossible to follow and much is lost.
I'm not just speaking of my own experience, others in the room had same issue.
So, we quickly lost interest because we don't understand Chinese!
Market Value (2017)
Good story ruined by poor acting
The acting was terrible from Jules Bruff. She was just awful. It was difficult to get into the movie because she was too distracting (not in a good way either). Nothing about her was believable or likable. Too bad.
A Way to Forgiveness (2016)
We never learned what she was trying to forgive him for. When you do a film like this- blubbering for 80% of it and
watching her make a damn fool of herself, I need to know what was she so torn up about? I feel a little cheated! Was he a serial killer... or maybe he just forgot her birthday?!?
Did she whine like this for the entire 12 year marriage? Who knows! It takes TWO to make a marriage work and TWO to let it fail. A true documentary would have given the viewer the other side of the cause of such torment.
I'm thinking she will now have to go on another pilgrimage so she can forgive herself for this half witted film!
