This ain't so awful ,man !!!
I've just seen 'Hannibal' and quite frankly I don't understand all the booing both the critics and the public's been giving it. It's not as great as the predecessor, I agree, but it stands on it's own thanks to great direction by Ridley Scott, and the superb acting by Anthony Hopkins. And let's not forget Giancarlo Giannini, a talented actor we just don't see too often. In the book, Giannini's character didn't say much to me, but in the film I really cared for him.
MORE GOOD ROLES FOR GIANCARLO GIANNINI !
The cutting of the film also deserves mention. In some action-driven scenes one feels like being in there. Fastpaced cutting, just as Scott used on 'Gladiator'.
Julianne does well, but I really missed Jodie Foster.
Aah, there is one scene in particular that I LOVE! The infamous dinner-scene! Thet's pure black comedy in it's prime. A friend of mine didn'd get it but that's his loss, and that goes for every one of you nay-sayers.
The film isn't excellent by any means but it deserves better, much better.
My Rating : 6/10
American Beauty (1999)
OH MAN WHAT A FILM !
Sam Mendes! Kevin Spacey! Annette Bening! Thora Birch! Wes Bentley! Chris Cooper! Mena Suvari! Alan Ball! Thomas Newman! Naomi Shohan! A 5/5 rating to them all. A masterpiece that i count as the best picture of the nineties. They don't come along that often. See it if you haven't, and if you have, you should see it all over again at least as often as the Godfather-pics.

Feeling the movie
The direction, the casting, the photography, the music. All above is top-notch. Rarely have I seen a new film on cinema that has gotten to me like this one. I have to say that i was enthralled by Hans Zimmer's opening music. And the performance by Mr Crowe is what the Oscars is all about. Genuinely fantastic. But hey, Joaquin Phoenix also delivers the goods in a satisfying role. Oliver Reed and Richard Harris also, gave their best. And Ridley Scott proves that he IS one of America's leading directors. Plus, I must say that Scott's comments on DVD is extremely insightful and sometimes funny.
The Howling (1981)
The Ultimate Werewolfmovie
The howling stands as a great movie thanks to the brilliant script, the magnificent effects and the acting. This alongside Gremlins is Joe Dante's finest hour at the movies. Pino Donaggio's great music also gives the film an ambience that few other horrorpics have achieved. Though many others hold John Landis wolfpic as favorite, I have to disagree. Sure, the first 15 min. of that movie was masterful in setting the mood, this one keeps it throughout the entire movie. Plus this one have (in my humble opinion) better transformation sequences.
