Ava is an Asian-American woman who was raised in Los Angeles, but adopted from China. One night, mysterious men visit her apartment. They tell her her biological father was a high-ranking crime boss of a Chinese mob called the Kongbu mafia. They tell her he has just passed away and that his dying wish was for Ava to take over the throne. They have come to take her back to China, whether she wants it or not. Meanwhile, a rival gang called Oolong Gang is waiting outside. They know the Kongbu mafia is now weak and see this as a perfect opportunity to dispose of their enemies. As if that wasn't enough for Ava, her boyfriend Daniel is about to ask for her hand in marriage on this eventful night in Los Angeles.
