Dynasty: This Illness of Mine
10 May 2019 | by snowflakeaudreySee all my reviews

I was beyond blown away by how brilliantly done this episode was.

I must admit, I was quite saddened at the loss of Nicolette as Alexis and the decision to recast her with the whole "new face" storyline, but it all came together so flawlessly in this episode that I actually don't mind having Liz as Alexis, and could see it work out long-term.

Liz's portrayal of Alexis was spot-on in this episode, down to her voice, mannerisms and expressions. Alexis's hair and makeup was also done perfectly too in order to differentiate her from Fallon a tad bit more and bring back the essence of Alexis. I'm very surprised, as I was super skeptical of Liz playing Alexis. However, this episode truly changed my perception of the entire situation.

They also found a way to interweave the storyline of Alexis's face with the happenings of Adam, who is by far the most evil character to ever grace the Carringtons. Normally, this series usually stumbles with forced storylines to explain cast members' exits, but they managed to tie the storylines together brilliantly.

There were also lots of twists and bombshells here, especially involving Laura Van Kirk and Adam, and the writing for every moment was filled with action and drama. This is the "Dynasty" I know and love, and I'm so glad it's managed to keep its stellar quality even with the temporary loss of Nicolette Sheridan.

Final remarks - I was getting tired of Adam up until now, and found him to be a very distasteful villain and annoying character. However, in this episode, he was portrayed much better as a true enemy to the family as his plans and devious manipulations reach a tipping point. Fallon finally discovered several of his bad deeds, which means it's not long before he'll be exposed for good.

I'm sensing one hell of an epic finale coming up. Everything is progressing perfectly and I absolutely can't wait for what's next.

I give "This Illness of Mine" a 10/10.
