  • When a Hollywood film crew comes to shoot in Lawrenceton, and the film's star is found poisoned and bludgeoned in her dressing room, crime-solving librarian Aurora Teagarden enlists members of the Real Murders Club to help her pare down a long list of suspects and prove the innocence of mystery writer Robin Daniels, a man she once dated.

  • Hollywood comes to Lawrenceton as a movie production films in town. "Whimsical Murder" was written by crime novelist, former Lawrenceton resident Robin Daniels, to accompany his same named novel which will be released concurrently with the movie. Robin, who used to be a member of the Real Murders Discussion Club when he lived in Lawrenceton, based the characters on real life people in town, including the lead character of Adelaide on Aurora Teagarden - "Ro" to her friends - also an active member of the Real Murders Discussion Club and the town's mystery solving librarian, who used to date Robin. The movie is produced by Ellen Post, directed by Joel Parker, the assistant director is Will Weir, Celia Shaw stars as Adelaide, and Meredith Wear has the supporting role of Adelaide's reporter best friend, although Meredith was aiming for the starring role. Celia got the job through Robin, the two who used to date. Everyone in town is enthralled with the production and being involved in it, with Aida Teagarden, Ro's realtor mother, getting a job as location scout upon meeting Parker, the two who were immediately smitten with each other. Even the craft service girl, Taylor Harden, is star struck, she a huge fan of Robin's mystery crime novels. The two people not totally enthralled with the production are: Martin Bartell, Ro's ex-CIA turned businessman boyfriend, who, after seeing the script, believes Robin's return is his attempt to win back Ro, although Martin is otherwise preoccupied with another issue concerning his former CIA partner and best friend; and Ro herself, who is nonplussed by all the attention. On the first day of filming, insecure Celia, who believed someone unknown was following her, is found dead in her trailer, it looking like homicide most likely committed by someone involved with the production. Although Police Chief Lynn Smith does whatever she can to dissuade especially Ro from getting involved, the Discussion Club, which includes the return of Lynn's Police Detective husband Arthur Smith, mobilizes to try and find out exactly what happened to Celia. But if some reports are true that Celia was murdered due to being once romantically involved with Robin, Ro may also be a target beyond getting too close to the truth.
