Offred spirals as a Gilead ceremony disrupts her relationship with Nick. Janine tries to adjust to life in the Colonies, jeopardizing her friendship with Emily.

Although many viewers may recognize the first verse of "Morning Has Broken," sung by the prisoners in the opening scene in the Colonies where Janine and Emily are being held, as the 1972 hit single by Cat Stevens, it is actually a Christian hymn with lyrics composed by Eleanor Farjeon in 1931 and set to the tune of a traditional Scottish Gaelic song, "Bunessan." It is often sung at children's services and for funerals.
The Cat Stevens version included instrumental passages by classically trained keyboardist Rick Wakeman, who shortly thereafter joined the progressive rock band Yes, to lengthen a 45-second hymn to a three-minute pop recording that charted high in the U.S., UK, and other countries. See more
