The broadcaster has ordered eleven episodes of the single-cam comedy, which is titled “The Young Rock.” It hails from Nahnatchka Khan. Johnson will appear in every episode of the show, which is said to chronicle his “formative years.”

Johnson will executive produce under his Seven Bucks Productions banner along with Seven Bucks’ Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Brian Gewirtz. Jennifer Carreras of Khan’s Fierce Baby Productions will also executive produce. Universal Television, where Khan is under an overall deal, will serve as the studio.

This will not be Johnson’s first TV series starring role, as he previously starred in the HBO comedy “Ballers.” He currently hosts and executive produces the NBC competition series “The Titan Games,” with Dany Garcia also executive producing.

The Best Films of 2019, According to IndieWire’s Staff
Over the course of a single year, the staff of IndieWire consumes a dizzying amount of films, thanks to packed film festival slates, stuffed streaming offerings, and regular old theatrical releases. Along the way, we find plenty of films to love, and closing out another year at the movies gives us a chance to keep spreading the good word of the year’s best (at least in our eyes).

For those of you obsessed with numbers, IndieWire’s overall top five film picks likely don’t surprise: Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite” was the clear favorite, but it was followed by an array of darlings, including Celine Sciamma’s “Portrait of a Lady on Fire,” the Safdie brothers’ “Uncut Gems,” Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women,” and Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman.” And while those top favorites appeared on a number of lists, a few films only appeared on one, including

The Academy has recently released their annual reminder list of eligible titles which always has a few odd reveals. You can read the full list of 344 features here but here are a four things that stood out to us.

As one of the most popular stars in the movie business, one that’s enjoying a huge career renaissance after a recent string of critical and commercial hits, Keanu Reeves is arguably more in demand now than at any other point in his decades-long Hollywood career.

In 2019 alone, the 55 year-old has starred in the hugely successful third installment in the John Wick franchise, voiced a character in Pixar’s billion-dollar smash Toy Story 4, sent himself up twice thanks to cameo appearances in Netflix comedies Always Be My Maybe and Between Two Ferns: The Movie, and even popped up in the trailer for the next Spongebob Squarepants movie.

Next up on the slate for the actor is long-awaited sequel Bill & Ted Face the Music, which sees him returning as Theodore ‘Ted’ Logan for the first time since 1991’s Bogus Journey. After that, Reeves will move on to another belated sequel

‘Fresh Off The Boat’ To End After Season 6 On ABC

  • Deadline
‘Fresh Off The Boat’ To End After Season 6 On ABC
Fresh Off the Boat will not be back for a seventh season. The family comedy series end its run with an hour-long series finale on Friday, February 21 at 9 Pm.

The decision was expected. Ratings for the series have not been particularly strong this fall on Friday. What’s more, most TV cast contracts are up after six seasons, and judging by star Constance Wu’s reaction to the Season 6 renewal in May, few expected that she would be eager to continue when her deal is up in May as her feature career had taken off with Crazy Rich Asians and Hustlers.

Other key auspices also have moved on or preparing their new chapter. Fotb creator Nahnatchka Khan earlier this year left her longtime studio home, 20th Century Fox TV, which produces Fotb, for a deal at Universal TV. And star Randall Park recently launched a production company, signing a first-look

Helen Mirren Is Flattered To Be Mistaken For Keanu Reeves’ Girlfriend

This year, Keanu Reeves has been the subject of a very strange renaissance online. After starting off 2019 with the horrendous film Replicas, his nearly back-to-back-to-back performances in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Always Be My Maybe, and Toy Story 4 quickly made him one of the hottest names of the summer.

So when the beloved actor, who’s been notoriously quiet about his personal life, appeared to publicly confirm his relationship with artist Alexandra Grant, the internet, for lack of a better word, broke.

Unfortunately, some of the ramblings that ensued were not all that kind. Many people, who found the 46-year-old’s decision to wear her natural, silver hair onto the red carpet, mistook her for a much older woman. In fact, they mistook her for a very specific older woman: Helen Mirren.

While that theory was quickly busted by a fact check, its ripples still found their way to the Oscar-winning actress’ doorstep.

‘Lost’ Star Daniel Dae Kim Talks Hollywood’s Growing Appetite for Asian Fare
In the post-“Crazy Rich Asians” and “The Good Doctor” era, trawling Asia for new IP to bring to Hollywood has gone from being an “esoteric pursuit” to a “mad scramble,” actor and producer Daniel Dae Kim told Variety on the sidelines of the Asia Society’s U.S.-Asia Entertainment Summit, which took place Tuesday, on the eve of the Afm.

Kim’s own production company, 3Ad, has about 20 projects at various stages of development for both TV and film. A few of its properties are from Korea, and one was originally a Japanese manga. A few originated as stage plays, while others were books.

“It’s kind of anywhere and everywhere,” Kim told Variety. “Nowadays a good story is told in many different places. Everyone’s looking for that story now that’s going to cross borders, and I think we can find it.”
