Chopping Mall: Creating the Killbots (1986)

*** (out of 4)

Vintage featurette takes a look at the making of CHOPPING MALL. Director Jim Wynorski and special effects artist Robert Short are interviewed about what they brought to the table. This includes how the film got started and the original issues that Wynorski had with the idea of being trapped inside a location. Short also goes into some nice details about creating the look of the robots and what film Wynorski recommended to him for some inspiration. If you grew up back in the day then you're probably familiar with these making of specials that would give you a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film as well as try to build up your interest in watching it. This clocks in just under 16-minutes and for the most part it's extremely entertaining since both men tell some nice stories and you get a good idea of what it was like working with such a small budget.
