Storyline

Following a similar premise to the previous game, Danganronpa 2 puts players in control of Hajime Hinata, an amnesiac boy who has just become one of Hope's Peak Academy's 'Ultimate' students, alongside fifteen others. The students find themselves taken to the remote tropical Jabberwock Island by their alleged teacher, a small, rabbit-like mascot named Usami, who claims it to be a simple field trip. However, things turn out to be too good to be true as Hope's Peak Academy's notorious principal, Monokuma, announces they are stuck on the island for life unless they can murder another student and get away with it. If the students can determine a murderer in a Class Trial, that culprit is executed, but if they make the wrong assumption, then the killer walks home free whilst everyone else is sentenced to death.

A famous character earns a lot of hate for unsympathetic reasons.
24 October 2019 | by amandamay-03903See all my reviews

Why do you guys hate preachy characters like Nagito so much? Even to find him annoying? As much as Sesame Street's Elmo or even Gummibar? His reasons for having an "obsession" of hope is because of his past. His pet dog died in an accident, his parents were killed, and he was abducted by a serial killer. When he was rescued, he use a lottery as evidence to arrest the one who abducted him. To cope with the traumatic experience through good luck AND bad luck, he started to have religious beliefs for hope crushing all despair as a cooking mechanism along with Hope's Peak Academy.

I went to New Song's Church to learn about the homeless, that place also internally taught me to respect other people's religious beliefs. If I respect them, then they'll respect my beliefs as well. That's how I perfectly respect Nagito and feel pity for him While the rest of you don't; Finding him mentally ill instead. If you deny all of that just because he sees hope as a god, and just because you all saw his beliefs as a mentally ill obsession, and a junkie drug and alcohol addiction instead as a coping mechanism... Then that means you guys are just terrible at trusting and appreciating those who are like Nagito and internally have good intentions in their hearts! SERIOUSLY, THE WORST!!!!
