When a series of corpses with ties to Booth's former Army unit appear around D.C., Booth must dive into his past to find the killer before the killer finds Booth. Meanwhile, Brennan's father, Max, hides a serious medical procedure from Brennan, leaving her to grapple with her father's trust and mortality, as well as her family being in danger.

Yugoslav names are mispronounced throughout the episode. When Booth mentions the warlord he killed by name he mispronounces the name Radic. All Yugoslav names ending with "ic" are pronounced "ich". A person with as much military experience as Booth would know that, especially considering the importance of the person he killed. Later on in the episode Javor also mispronounces his name and the name Kovac. No-one of Yugoslav origins would mispronounce names like that, no matter how long they've lived abroad. Brennan also mispronounces the names, even though she would definitely be aware of the subtlety of pronunciation of another language, as she's demonstrated previously. Another character that says he's extremely proud of his Serbian heritage also mispronounces the name. See more
