The color of dark purple is used throughout the film to represent the cataclysmic stain of mankind on the planet. This is reflected throughout the lighting, design, and character models of every single sequence.
The 26 sequences featured in the film, were based on storyboards and designs of the Writer / Director who spent over a year in pre-production designing each sequence.
The poem which forms the narration used throughout the film, was written by the Writer / Director across a single day.
To reflect the global story it was telling, the production was taken to over 20 international cities across six continents.
The trailer was the only film broadcast during a live BAFTA event at the Princess Anne Theatre in London about sustainability in filmmaking.
In July 2017, "The Velvet Abstract" was awarded as "Best Experimental" at Oniros Film Awards, Italy.
