The reason Colin Trevorrow didn't direct this movie was because after Jurassic World (2015), Lucasfilm signed him to close out the new Star Wars trilogy by directing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), but fell in the wake of Trevorrow's box-office bomb The Book of Henry (2017). Lucasfilm parted ways with Trevorrow, although he claims that the decision likely wasn't based on Book of Henry (2017), since it was reported that he had been having creative disagreements with Lucasfilm over the Star Wars script for some time. Nonetheless, Book of Henry (2017) was a very disappointing follow up to a movie as huge as Jurassic World (2015). It's actually ironic as Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) director J.J. Abrams took over Trevorrow's duties on Star Wars: Episode IX (2019) to close out that trilogy, after handling the reigns to Rian Johnson for Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017), and now Trevorrow is returning to his own franchise to bookend it. The Italian version has three scenes trimmed for violence before submitting the film to the local censorship commissions. These are: 1) T-Rex inside a cage swallowing a goat 2) Indoraptor swallowing the bitten-off hand of Ken Wheatley) Ted Levine and then roaring his hat off. 3) T-Rex and Carnosaur ripping in two the body of Eli Mills (Rafe Spall) See more »
I like to dissect movies to determine my true thoughts on it, and this movie is no different. But while picking apart this movie i just always couldn't help but think that a lot of the bashing this movie gets it extremely unwarranted. Yes there are flaws with the movie and I won't deny that. The biggest criticism I think I've seen is that 1: It's boring and doesn't have enough dinosaur action, and 2: It is too different from the original. The first criticism i find somewhat understandable, but then again this movie is a lot more story driven than it is action packed. There are balances between the two in most of the other Jurassic movies but this time around it decided to sacrifice one for the other. And whether you like or hate the story is completely subjective, but the bottom line is that it is trying to be a more story driven movie. The second criticism is actually kind of correct it is very different from the original jurassic park. Yes it's different from the original movie, but it's a lot similar to the BOOK that this series is based off of. This movie is making the franchise evolve in a way Michael Crichton planned for it to all the way in his first book which keep in mind was three years before the original movie. Does this movie have flaws? yeah. The way the indoraptor escaped was dumb, and in my personal opinion all the parts on the island are incredibly mediocre. But i think the rest of this movie is fantastic... Okay i'm prepared for the hate
