In the 1930s Gaumont British entered into a number of co productions with continental distributors. Some of the musical numbers, particularly extracts from opera could be used in both versions and then the different casts would film their scenes to fit in their respective versions. This film features singers Jan Kiepura and his wife to be Martha Eggers. They both had to flee the Nazis and later in life settled in America. At this moment in time these sort of operetta were quite popular with audiences, though I must say that their appeal quite eludes me.Sonnie Hale rather overdoes his performance as a promoter. Also featuring a younger looking Ernest Thieseger. The story is fairly mundane
