Dean Martin Celebrity Roast: Danny Thomas (1976)

Dean Martin is once again the Roastmaster as Danny Thomas gets his shot at being insulted. The guests include Orson Welles, Milton Berle, Gene Kelly, Lucille Ball, Jimmie Walker, Nipsey Russell, Ruth Buzzi and Don Knotts among others. If you're a fan of the series then you'll really be entertained by this one, which is certainly one that you could label a classic. All of the guests do a very good job with their routines including a bit between Ball and Thomas. The back-and-forth timing isn't quite on the mark but it's still very funny to watch. Buzzi also gets a couple hilarious moments as she recalls being Thomas' backup lady. The highlight of the show belongs to Berle who really comes on strong at the end and delivers a terrificly funny and at times hilarious routine.
