Storyline

The morning after the huge storm, Sasha and Maggie come across the man who has been following them and left a supply of water. Aaron tells them he's their friend and they have nothing to fear but Rick has no trust left in him and isn't prepared to take any chances. Aaron says he and his group live in a walled city where people have families, homes and lead as normal a life as is possible in the circumstances. With some encouragement from Michonne Rick agrees they should all go with Aaron to Alexandria, Va. but afraid of walking into a trap, refuses to follow the route he's suggested. Rick alternate route leads them into a confrontation with a large group of walkers. Written by garykmcd

Goofs

While fleeing from the herd of walkers on the road, Glenn fires 10 shots from his pistol without reloading. Glenn's pistol is a Colt MK-IV Series 70 1911 which has a magazine capacity of seven rounds. So even with a full magazine and an extra round in the chamber Glenn should only be able to fire eight shots at the most before needing to reload. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Maggie Greene: Hey. Everyone, this is Aaron. We met him outside. He's by himself. We took his weapon and we took his gear.
Aaron: [Aaron attempts to shake Rick's hand] Hi. It's nice to meet you.
Rick Grimes: You said he had a weapon?
Rick Grimes: [Maggie hands Rick Aaron's pistol] There something you need?
Sasha Williams: He has a camp nearby. He wants us to audition for membership.
Aaron: I wish there was another word. Audition makes it sound like we're some kind of dance troupe. That's only on Friday nights.

Another Safe Zone?
18 March 2015 | by g-bodylSee all my reviews

This is the eleventh episode of the fifth season of the Walking Dead. I thought this was a very good episode that introduces another mysterious character, Aaron. It is hard to say whether this guy is a friend or foe, but we can see why Rick would have a hard time trusting this guy. The episode is very tense and there is a good amount of walker violence in part thanks to Rick.

In this episode, "The Distance," Maggie and Sasha introduce Aaron to the group whom offers a safe zone in Alexandria. Rick is very distrustful after the incidents in Woodbury and Terminus. Thanks to the prodding of Michonne, Rick decides to go to Alexandria. But he decides to go an alternate way, which may be the worst decision to make.

Overall, the tension and the action have increased from the previous episode. Everyone is still reeling from the deaths of loved ones, but now they realize it is time to move on with their lives and look forward to what happens next. A very strong episode in the books.
