Trivia

Throughout this episode and the next, several characters state that they were "only following orders" or "I have orders to follow." HYDRA was originally a Nazi-offshoot organization. "I was only following orders" was a defense used several times by Nazi officers and soldiers at the Nuremberg Trials. See more »

Goofs

After Grant and Buddy were in the woods for six months, Buddy looks very nicely trimmed and groomed. Grant's hair looks the same as it did at Juvenile Hall as well, but that could be a choppy cut he gives himself. The dog's grooming takes more specialized tools unlikely to be available in the woods. It's a weakness.

This episode gave us a good backstory into how Garrett recruited Ward, and a great job getting to the end of the season's plot.

Let's start with Ward, we saw why he truly believes and stays with Garrett. He was pulled out of juvi and trained him to be a survivor. It was really depressing when Garrett told Ward to kill his dog. As a dog owner with a well trained, happy, friendly dog, I could never do that and it looks like Ward couldn't either. However, the dog was still seen through the scope of a rifle so it was difficult to tell whether it was Ward or Garrett who pulled the trigger and even if the trigger was even pulled as it transitioned into a different scene.

Having the team infiltrate Cybertek this episode was real fun as Coulson and May acted like Fitz and Simmons. It was also a very good twist that the first subject in the Deathlok program was Garrett. As explained in the show, Garrett wants the Tahiti drug for himself. It was also good that the team was split up as Fitz and Simmons went off on their part of the mission. There was great acting with Dalton, de Caestecker and Henstridge as FitzSimmons was dropped in the ocean, in a submersible pod though, by Ward. This kind of made me doubt Ward killed his dog because while he left them there to die, he doesn't know for sure if they will, just that they are out of the way.

I got to say, Raina is still creeping me out with her over curiosity in powered people. I also cannot take Deathlok seriously.

+ Ward's backstory + Cybertek break in + FitzSimmons dropped in the ocean + Is there still good in Ward? - Raina and Deathlok

Final Score: 9.1/10
