Trivia

This is the lowest grossing film out of the 4-film "Chipmunk" series and the only one to not earn $100 million or more at the domestic box office. This film made $85.9 million domestically and $234.8 million worldwide. This is likely a result of trying (and failing) to go up against the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) at the box office, which made more money in one weekend domestically than this film made worldwide in total ($248 million), and went on to make over $2 billion and become the 3rd highest grossing film of all time. About what you'd expect
30 December 2015 | by DarkVulcan29See all my reviews

These films based on cartoons are not works of art, but they never try to be. For anybody that loves an Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon, we'll probably enjoy this like you where entertained by the first three. The Chipmunks have a misadventure like road trip. I don't want to give to much away. This is just a fun ride, nothing more, it just a film to sit and watch and forget about your problems.

Now Jason Lee as Dave looks like he only got five hours of sleep, kind of have the feel he doesn't want to be there. Tony Hale has some the funniest moments has a marshal chasing the chipmunks, he has a Steve Martin like thing going for him. It's a cartoon movie nothing more, I like it more than Yoga Bear and Scooby Doo.
