Storyline

Dodgson Energetics, opened by Charles Dodgson, Sr., is the lifeblood and soul of Oxford, OR. Under the control of Charles Dodgson, III, a healthy DE is, inexplicably, being systematically dismantled and the employees fired for absolutely no reason. The team is called to "turn Charles III back into the person he used to be," so Nate suggests The White Rabbit, the ungriftable grift. Parker is the key at getting to the root of the issue, no matter how many cranks or PhonyhDs appear on the scene. Written by LA-Lawyer

Trivia

This episode is full of references to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland":
  • The White Rabbit of the title, of course, is a character in "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland".
  • The mark is named Charles Dodgson, which was the real name of author Lewis Carroll. The character's assistant is named Mr. Carroll.
  • The character name Alex Liddell is a variation on Alice Liddell, the real-life Alice for whom Carroll wrote his two most famous stories, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (1865) and "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There" (1871). Additionally, one of the employees let go in the opening sequence (Number 20) is named Edith, the name of one of real-life Alice Liddell's sisters.
  • Hardison says the team is going to put Dodgson "in wonderland."
  • Eliot's line "Blue patch makes him loopy, red patch knocks him out," has the same rhythm and structure of the line "One pill makes you larger, one pill makes you small" from the song "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. The song is a two-and-a-half minute homage to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."
  • In the "dream-world", Sophie introduces herself as being from Hatter Mercantile.

Traumatizing a hurt individual
16 July 2019 | by xanthinesSee all my reviews

I think the reason this episode doesn't resonate with me is that the crew is basically traumatizing an already traumatized guy. In most, if not all, of the other episodes the bad guys are either inherently bad or make bad choices based on inherently bad characteristics (eg, greed). It's just unseemly for the team to do this, especially given Nate's intelligence and Sophie's emotional intelligence. Oh, and the technology of the time this episode was made just doesn't hold up well over time.
