Major Crimes investigates the murder of Dr. Christopher Brady, a gastroenterology oncologist found at his office by a janitor on a Sunday, apparently struck on the head with a blunt object and strangled with IV tubing, with refrigerators meant to hold various anticancer drugs and painkillers standing empty. Brady had fired one of his nurses the previous week, but the police learn she left after becoming aware that the doctor was ordering drugs for fictitious patients which allowed him to treat those who were uninsured. When coroner Dr. Morales reviews the medical records of Brady's patients, he concludes that they weren't being treated for cancer at all, which provides the squad with a long list of potential suspects. Meanwhile, Sgt. Gabriel's girlfriend Ann Mason accompanies him to the crime. She manages to get on Brenda's bad side but proves useful later; however, Chief Pope and Brenda's working relationship is severely tested and she begins to question her own future.

Did You Know?
Agent Fritz Howard
It's hurtful, isn't it, when someone thinks their job - I mean, their JOB - is more important than what a... another person might want or need? Is there anyone else we know who you think might sometimes behave like that? Hm? Anyone?
Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson
Oh, my gosh. Doctors!
