In a way, 'Community' is "Southland" doing what it does best: putting it's audience in the backseat on one call after another. This is usually where the plot follows smoothly and mixes well with the blood-pumping action. But in this episode, the calls aren't all that interesting. There's one exception, in which Cooper and Tang allow a victim of assault to exact his own street justice. It's a hilarious scene, and probably the only dose of humor in this thing. Lydia and Reuben fare worse in this department, working a fairly by-the-numbers case while conversation is confined to his practicing a quinceañera speech.

There's never really a bad "Southland" episode, but this is somewhat of a letdown following a string of great ones.
