Natalie Portman Didn’t Need Much Convincing To Return For Thor: Love And Thunder

Natalie Portman will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Thor: Love and Thunder, but her journey with the franchise has been a long and bumpy one. She first appeared as Jane Foster in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor in 2011. At the time, the casting was a coup, as Portman was fresh off an Oscar win for Black Swan and had risen to the top of Hollywood by that time.

The experience was a good one, though, and the actress returned for the 2013 sequel, Thor: The Dark World. This production, however, was fraught with controversy and Portman made no bones about being upset when director Patty Jenkins was let go from the pic. In post interviews, she would make it clear that she had no interest, nor intention, to return to the franchise again.

And true to her word, Portman would sit Thor: Ragnarök out. In fact, she wouldn’t

Natalie Portman Excited by Rumors ‘Thor 4’ Will Tackle Jane’s Breast Cancer Arc
Natalie Portman’s big return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in “Thor: Love and Thunder” has created the possibility for Jane Foster’s breast cancer storyline in the comic books to be represented on the big screen. “Thor” director Taika Waititi sparked rumors earlier this month that Jane’s breast cancer storyline was a possibility for his next sequel. Variety caught up with Portman this week at an L.A. Dance Project fundraising gala and asked the actress to weigh in on the rumor. The Oscar winner is hopeful Jane’s breast cancer storyline makes the cut, although she has yet to see a “Thor 4” script.

“It’s just very rare that these kinds of big entertainment films look at more serious, real-life issues,” Portman said. “I really don’t know anything about it. I haven’t seen anything, but I’ve heard the same rumors as you have, and

Thor: Love And Thunder Star Natalie Portman Weighs In On Martin Scorsese’s Marvel Criticism

Thor: Love and Thunder star Natalie Portman was recently in attendance at the 6th annual Los Angeles Dance Project Gala where she took a moment to respond to Martin Scorsese’s recent claim that the Marvel movies don’t qualify as cinema.

The legendary director’s comments managed to cause quite a stir in the McU fandom, especially after the filmmaker doubled down on his stance at a subsequent event supporting his new feature The Irishman. Already, the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Love and Thunder helmsman Taika Waititi have weighed in on Scorsese’s remarks, and now Portman has shared her thoughts with The Hollywood Reporter, arguing that “there’s room for all types of cinema” and “there’s not one way to make art.”

The Jane Foster actress went on to suggest that the McU movies provide valuable escapism for the filmgoing public:

“I think that Marvel

John Cho Injured on Set of Cowboy Bebop; Production Shuts Down For 7 to 9 Months

John Cho was seriously injured while shooting Netflix’s live-action series adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. According to Deadline, the injury was described as a “freak accident on the last take of a routine and well-rehearsed scene.”

His accident is serious enough to require surgery and he will also have to go through extensive rehabilitation. Because of this, production on the series is expected to shut down for the next 7 to 9 months. The new filming schedule will be set once Cho’s prognosis is clear.

The series is still early in production and Netflix could replace Cho if they wanted to, but they are not going to do that. They’re fully committed to Cho and will not make this series without him. A rep from Netflix offered the following statement:

“Our thoughts are with John and he has our complete support as he recuperates from this injury.”

Cowboy Bebop is the “jazz-inspired,

Taika Waititi’s Films, Ranked Worst to Best (Photos)
Actor-writer-director Taika Waititi has graduated in recent years from being New Zealand’s indie wunderkind to a box-office blockbuster filmmaker whose celebrated comedy style transcends fandom and genre. You’d be hard-pressed to find a genuinely bad film in his filmography, so as we explore his six efforts behind the camera, take into consideration that, for the most part, we’re splitting hairs. He’s a singular talent who blends hard-hitting emotional storylines with whimsical gags so meticulously, it’s hard to believe he got away with it.

6. “Eagle vs. Shark” (2007)

Taika Waititi’s debut film is a low-key comedy about outcasts combating depression, but although Waititi seems sensitive to their plight, “Eagle vs. Shark” is frustratingly off balance. Loren Taylor stars as an introverted young woman with a crush on a socially awkward Jemaine Clement; she follows him to his hometown, where he plans to finally beat up his old high-school bully.

Taika Waititi's Korg Will Return in Thor: Love and Thunder

  • MovieWeb
Marvel fans have reason to be happy as Korg is officially set to return in Thor: Love and Thunder. Taika Waititi directed Thor: Ragnarok, but also brought the character of Korg to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe entry, making him an instantly beloved addition to the franchise. While it was largely assumed that Korg would indeed be back alongside his pal Miek, it's now been confirmed by Waititi himself.

Taika Waititi recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his upcoming movie, Jojo Rabbit. For those keeping score, that's the Oscar hopeful dramedy, in which, Waititi plays an imaginary version of Adolf Hitler. During the conversation, Kimmel asked Waititi if there is anything he can reveal about Thor: Love and Thunder, at which point, he had this to say about it.

"There's twice the Thor in Thor 4. It's hopefully common knowledge that Natalie Portman is coming back. She'll be

Taika Waititi Confirms Another Avengers: Endgame Character For Thor: Love And Thunder

Korg’s ascent from largely unknown Marvel Comics character to beloved fan favorite has been astronomic. Ever since his debut in Thor: Ragnarok, folks have been asking where Korg is, what Korg is doing and why Korg isn’t currently on-screen right now?

It got to the point where his absence in Avengers: Infinity War had people worried, with audiences breathing a collective sigh of relief when he reappeared playing Fortnite in Endgame. And now it’s been confirmed that Korg’s tale will continue in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Of course, director Taika Waititi has a personal interest in the character returning, as he both voices and performs motion capture for him and he spoke about Korg’s return and the fan reception to him on Jimmy Kimmel Live! recently, saying:

“I just finished a couple of drafts of that story. There’s more Thor! There’s twice the

Every Marvel & Star Wars Movie Missing from Disney+ at Launch

  • MovieWeb
Disney+ won't launch with every Star Wars movie or everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The studio released a ridiculous list of every single title available on November 12th. Disney decided to individually tweet out all of these titles on Twitter, one at a time, in a massive thread, clogging up newsfeeds all over the world. But some McU and Star Wars fans noticed certain glaring omissions right of the bat. However, these fans won't have to worry too much longer, except for a few exceptions.

Let's start with the good news. Disney+ will launch with every theatrical Star Wars movie except for The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Obviously, The Rise of Skywalker won't be available at launch either, but is expected to hit the streamer early in 2020. As for the reasoning behind this decision, Disney still has some titles under contract to Netflix, which is

Marvel Planning To Give Natalie Portman’s Thor Her Own Trilogy

We all know by now that Natalie Portman will be returning to the McU for the first time in years in a big way for 2021’s Thor: Love and Thunder. She won’t just be playing Jane Foster, astrophysicist anymore, as instead, she’ll be Jane Foster, Thor, as her character is set to gain the powers of the God of Thunder when she’s deemed worthy of lifting Mjolnir. It’s looking likely that this won’t just be a one-off gig for the actress, either, as Marvel has big plans for the Mighty Thor.

Sources close to We Got This Covered – the same ones who told us Wiccan will be in WandaVision and that a Nova movie is in development, both of which were confirmed this week by McU Cosmic (see: here and here) – say that Marvel wants to give Jane Foster her own solo trilogy following Love and Thunder.

Killer Croc Won't Return in The Suicide Squad or Anywhere Else in the Dceu

Killer Croc Won't Return in The Suicide Squad or Anywhere Else in the Dceu
James Gunn has reassembled The Suicide Squad for his own take on the supervillain legion, but while several key cast characters are returning, don't expect to see Killer Croc. In the original movie from 2016, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje played the scaly criminal, appearing alongside the likes of Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Viola Davis, Jared Leto, and more. Gunn has since unveiled a cast list for his follow-up movie as production has begun, but while many stars from the original were listed, Akinnuoye-Agbaje's name was not present. This obviously suggests the actor won't be returning as Killer Croc in The Suicide Squad or any other Dceu movie anytime soon, and Akinnuoye-Agbaje has confirmed he's not likely to reprise the role.

"I don't think I need to [do it again], to be honest. I did it, I enjoyed it, it bought me a Bentley and I will keep moving on,"Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje recently told Yahoo Movies UK.

Further new openers include Lionsgate’s ‘Farming’, eOne’s ‘The Day Shall Come’.

Two contrasting titles are among the new openers at the UK box office this weekend, as Universal’s animated comedy Abominable goes up against Paramount’s Will Smith action drama Gemini Man.

However the new openers will have to score strongly to knock Warner Bros’ Joker from top spot, which scored a huge £12.6m debut last weekend.

Abominable is a DreamWorks Animation production, about a magical Yeti in Shanghai on a quest to reunite with his family on Mount Everest. Chloe Bennet, Albert Tsai and Tenzing Norgay Trainor lead the voice cast.

Will Christopher Eccleston's Malekith Ever Return in a Future Marvel Movie?

  • MovieWeb
There is always debate when ranking Marvel films, but most agree on one thing: Thor: The Dark World is near the bottom. The actor behind the film's villain Malekith, Christopher Eccleston, has never been shy to voice his agreement. It seems he's continued to be a fan of the franchise, however, and had great things to say about the new creative team behind Thor: Love and Thunder.

When asked about his experience on Thor: The Dark World at New York Comic Con, Eccleston reiterated his earlier statements about having to be "in make-up for six, seven hours every day," which was something they did not tell him would be required up front. In fact, the Doctor Who actor is unrecognizable in his Malekith get-up, so Marvel really missed their opportunity to show off their prolific star. Something we'd love to see them remedy somewhere in their extensive slate. He had

Thor: The Dark World Actor Says He’d Return To The McU On One Condition

Christopher Eccleston hasn’t had a lot of nice things to say in the past about his experience working on 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. In an interview last year with The Guardian, for instance, the Malekith actor went as far as to joke that filming the God of Thunder’s second solo outing made him want to put a gun in his mouth. But during a recent panel at New York Comic Con, the star suggested that he still isn’t completely closed off to the idea of returning to the Marvel franchise.

Naturally, Eccleston still managed to get in a few more jabs at his sole outing in the McU, characterizing his experience on set as tedious and uncomfortable:

“I was in make-up for six, seven hours every day – they didn’t tell me that up front, so I wasn’t pleased about that. There was a lack of humor in the film,

Natalie Portman is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the first onscreen female Thor, and on Friday, Ellen DeGeneres offered fans an exclusive, totally legit, very convincing look at her character. The blond hair! The beard! The giant biceps! Portman clearly has a major transformation on her hands. While sitting down with DeGeneres, the 38-year-old joked about having to get fit for the upcoming film. "Yes, I'm very excited. I'm assuming I'll have to work out, but I'm just going to wait . . . I'll be eating my burritos until they call me to the gym," she said.

The news of Portman's casting was announced during San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, when Marvel President Kevin Feige took the stage to discuss the fourth film in the Thor franchise, which will be helmed by Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and is officially called Thor: Love and Thunder. Portman hasn't reprised her role
