Storyline

When Alice, the author of a popular children's book series, inexplicably suffers from a seizure moments before an attempt to take her own life, the Princeton Plansboro team faces the challenges of evaluating both her underlying medical conditions, as well as her unstable psychological state. Unable to diagnose Alice, House becomes particularly motivated, as he's a fan of her books, and is convinced that the key to unlocking the mysteries of Alice's condition lies in the pages of her most recent novel. Meanwhile, House takes Cuddy on a double date with Wilson and his girlfriend, Sam, and makes a discovery that proves that life imitates art as the couple continues to make compromises in order to make their relationship work. Dr. Gregory House: [Holding a syringe] We can't find your tumor in time without your cooperation. So I'm giving you a choice. Give us a chance to make you better, or stick this anywhere and push.
Alice: Why do you care about me? You think you know me because you read my books?
Dr. Gregory House: No. I know pain. You think you can handle it, and then one day you can't. And when that happens, you either find reasons to go on, or you don't.
Alice: I'm... I'm all out of reasons.
Dr. Gregory House: Now, when you're pain free, you're gonna want to live and start writing ...

A respite from the freefall
2 November 2018 | by aspectacleofmyselfSee all my reviews

House was in free fall by the time this episode aired. Thankfully, that very fine actress Amy Irving briefly stabilizes with a bravura performance. Meanwhile, a recently castrated House and more self centred than usual Cuddy continue their ridiculous scorpion dance. I assumed full on normal crappiness will be resumed next week.
