At Sydney's National Dance Academy, a few talented youngsters are recruited for the excruciatingly tough course. Star ballerina's daughter Kat also introduces them in the circle of last-year brother Ethan, who already aspires a career as choreographer.
Tara Webster grew up on a farm in Sydney, she has always wished to fly. But instead she dances. Tara makes two very close friends; Kat, a carefree outgoing dancer and Sammy, a geeky Jewish boy with a passion for ballet. A friend Christian, a broody hip hop dancer. She develops a crush on the schools heart throb Ethan (third year). Makes a friend/enemy with a girl called Abigail, a hard working perfectionist. All the while competing with her class mates for her final dream, making it into the company.
15 year old Tara Webster joins Sydney's national dance acadamy. Straight away she realises that she is the worst dancer there and it isn't like the dream she always thought it was as Tara experiences intense classes, strict teachers, mean girls obsessed with dance, falling in 'love', having her heart broken, actually falling in love, breaking the hearts of others, serious physical injuries and friendship issues. Dancing is only half the battle.
