Drunk History takes a brilliantly bizarre premise and milks it for all it’s worth: for each segment, a comic or writer gets intoxicated and recounts a major event in American history. Then famous actors re-enact that event, as per the drunk storyteller’s account – and usually lip-syncing their lines to the comic’s drunken, slurred speech.
This should, by all rights, be extremely stupid. But for various reasons, it is not. Here’s why you really need to check it
When a truly great comedy comes along, it gets accolade after accolade for its ingenuity. We tend to remember these shows well past their expiration dates. The 90s were defined by the likes of Seinfeld, Friends, and Frasier; similarly, the 2000s will be remembered for The Office (both the U.K. and U.S. versions), 30 Rock, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Even Comedy Central, a network dedicated to all things funny, struggles to create decent original shows. Most of the shows feature popular comedians and their relatively poor attempts at sketch variety shows; however, every now and then, a genuinely funny show comes along. In 2013, that show is Drunk History.

Why Drunk History on Comedy Central Is Amazing And You Need To Watch It
Here’s something to lessen the thrill for Community fans excited about creator Dan Harmon‘s return: Vulture broke the news that Donald Glover will only appear in five (out of the thirteen ordered) episodes this season, as Glover wanted time to focus on his music. While that’s good news for fans of Glover’s rapper persona Childish Gambino, that means Community viewers are getting eight episodes of Abed without Troy.
Maybe Puppet Troy could take over for a couple episodes?
