he was one of my childhood heroes. and this episode is one good instruments to remember that. preoccupation for details, honest acting, nuances of story, success of a script far from ambition to romanticize or give verdict. like each episode of series - a documentary. fresh, precise and useful for understand a key - moment , seed of present. it is a window. to a world who creates our reality. to a family in search of freedom. and, sure, image of a great mistake. but if you know than democratic values, the civil rights, the democracy itself are fruits of Louis XVI fall, than fascism, communism, terror from Cambodgia of Pol Pot are results of same sacrifice of a royal family, the film becomes not exactly a history lesson but a warning and occasion to look society more than a web of politics and more like a blind machine to a not clear future. because Louis XVI of France remains for his story, for his family sufferance, for poor Louis XVII, a symbol of price of fundamental change in every space of world. innocence, illusions, errors and scene of a revolution. and, more important, seed of a transformation without precise end. because, the gesture of king was a drop in large river. small chances for history to be different if he remains as prisoner. and about success of his action, the revolution has not real obstacles. only victims.
