Jon and Kate answer viewer email...
21 July 2008 | by PudgyPandaManSee all my reviews

Jon and Kate receive a TON of email from viewers - about 750/week at the time this episode was made. They say they do attempt to read them all (right! - how can they have time with 8 kids!). Kate's computer is right outside their bedroom walk-in closet - and Jon's is actually INSIDE the closet. He says it was the only place he could put it that it wouldn't get messed with.

They say most of the emails they receive tell them they are an inspiration - but they love the ones from people who say they communicate exactly like their spouse does.

They get a lot of questions about what they did fertility-wise. Kate laughs and says why are they asking us - we are a fertility nightmare. One woman says she WANTS to have sextuplets - Kate asks WHY? Who in their right mind...

They get viewers asking to give them a "shout out" - if not by name, maybe the kids can touch their pinkie's to their noses as a secret sign? What's wrong with people - get a life, Please! They say they do get bad, criticizing email - but after the first hint of anything negative, they automatically delete it without reading it. They say they know they are doing the best for their family and sorry if anyone's unhappy - get over it.

In regards to how they get individual time with the kids - they say they do get 1 on 1 time with the kids when they can and are definitely bonded to all the kids. They can tell when a kid needs more time when they get more clingy.

In terms of how they named the sextuplet kids - they say the first names don't have any significance, they are just names they liked. But the middle names for the boys are from men in the family: Aaden Jonathan (after Jon as he is oldest boy), Collin Thomas (after Jon's dad) and Joel Kevin (after Kate's brother). The girls middle names are fruits of the spirit: Hannah Joy, Leah Hope, And Alexis Faith.

One viewer asked about genetics and that the kids all look very Asian. Kate's mother-in-law had told her early in the marriage "I hope you don't expect the children to look like you because the Asian gene is very dominant" and she was right. KAte is glad they look Asian, she even says she wishes she was Korean. She says they are beautiful people. She is glad the kids don't look like her.

There are additional questions they cover like "more kids (NO!), pets (not anytime soon - they used to have 2 cats), Laundry schedule (DAILY - between 2-5 loads/day. Kate doesn't mind the washing, just the folding and putting away). Every Thursday, they have a neighbor named Beverly who folds laundry for her (how nice!) and Carla puts them away Thursday nights.

They got thousands of emails telling them to use a pizza cutter to cut pancakes. And then there are all the emails on how do they find time for intimacy. Kate refuses to answer, an off camera staff says 'but people want to know!" Jon's answer is "What's intimacy...?" Then Kate says "Our kids do sleep people!"

When asked what they think their kids will be when they grow up: Aaden a zoologist; Collin an engineer, NFL or pilot; Joel a model (into glamour, beauty, appearance); Alexis a skydiver, something daring crazy, probably will try lots of different things; Hannah a mommy or teacher;Leah will just be a little cute girl the rest of her life; Mady will be president; Cara will be perfect and responsible.

They are amazed that they are touching so many people's lives through the show. They say they are not perfect but people don't want to see perfect because nobody's perfect anyways.

This is an informative show but not one of my favorites because it shows Jon and Kate too much and not enough of the kids.
