(at around 1h 20 mins) When Agent Simmons asks Wheelie where to find the older Transformers, Wheelie shows them by pointing lasers at a map of the United States. Simmons says "The closest one is in Washington," and they go to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. However, none of the lasers actually pointed at Washington, D.C.; the closest one pointed to western New Jersey or possibly even Philadelphia.
(at around 28 mins) When Sam's parents take him to college for the first time, you can see his mom clearly high off of marijuana brownies. Marijuana, when consumed in a food, takes about an hour before the effects are felt.
(at around 3 mins) At the beginning of the film Optimus Prime says that six new autobots have arrived, but there are seven new autobots which are Sideswipe, Skids, Mudflap, Arcee and the other two autobot bikes which make six, but there's also Jolt who is introduced later.
(at around 1h 30 mins) When Leo, Sam, Mikaela, and Simmons are going through the Egyptian check point (run by Deep Roy's character), Leo states to Simmons, "I can handle it. These are my people. I'm 1/36th Arab." It is almost mathematically impossible for someone to have a hereditary factor of 1/36th. They probably meant for Leo to say, "I'm 1/32nd Arab." This would have been very easy to do, as a great-great-great grandparent would be 5 generations back, speaking in genetic terms. And 2 to the 5th power is 32.
(at around 1h 8 mins) In the film a Navy officer states that FPCON has reached level 'Delta', the first time since 9/11. However in the first Transformers film, the FPCON level was set to 'delta' after the attack on Qatar.
(at around 1h 8 mins) Megatron says "No more hiding" referring to the Decepticons no longer camouflaging themselves or imitating other objects, but some Decepticons still imitated Earth vehicles and aircraft, such as the Devastator bots, which were even motionless when they were being stood next to and in hearing distance of humans babbling loudly. One of the Decepticon jets was also shown with a pilot inside, which seems to go against the "No more pretending" line.
(at around 46 mins) When Sam Witwicky drops his papers on the college steps, 3 people on the right are walking behind him. When the shot changes, the same 3 people are further back, just getting to the steps.
Over the course of the movie, characters take props out of nowhere. At the beginning Sam takes out pincers and a special receptacle to put the shard in it; and when Bumblebee blows up a hole through the tomb of the Primes, Sam and Simmons point lanterns inside the hole.
(at around 1h 30 mins) Seymour Simmons calls in coordinates of the Daggers Tip from a pay phone. He says the coordinates are 29.5 North by 34.88 East. Later, when a young soldier shows General Morshower a note containing the coordinates from Major Lennox, the paper says 29.5 North by 35.88 East. A difference of one degree of latitude would translate into about a 69 mile error.
(at around 2h 5 mins) When Simmons is talking to the Captain of the Aircraft Carrier, the Captain identifies himself as "Wilder, Captain of the Aircraft Carrier USS John C Stennis", the same Aircraft Carrier (CVN-74) that was sunk, in the North Atlantic, earlier in the movie (at around 1h 6 mins).
(at around 46 mins) When Sam is talking on cell phone outside on campus, going down stone steps, a girl in flowery shirt and cut-off jean skirt passes him as he's picking up papers. He continually talks as the camera changes angles, and the same girl is yet again walking by him, even though she was 8 feet past him 1/5th of a second before.
(at around 6 mins) During the Shanghai Chase Scene, Sideways runs through a building and transforms on the other side. If you look closely, you can see the wall he approached in the former shot, and the wall he is leaving behind are the same wall on the same street. He didn't go through the building, he made a huge explosive U-turn.
(at around 1 min) In the opening scene when the Fallen steps on some primitive warriors, he clearly does so with his right leg. Then in the very next cut as he lifts his foot, it somehow becomes his left leg.

(at around 9 mins) When Sam is about to leave home for college his father is packing the car, he carries a set of golf clubs over his shoulder, in the next shot they are not there, then they reappear on his shoulder again later.
(at around 1h 1 min) During the forest battle, when Starscream accidentally shoots Grindor with a missile, Grindor is damaged and loses a big part of his right shoulder. But a few seconds later, Grindor is seen to be undamaged.
(at around 50 mins) When Leo and Alice find Sam writing Cybertronian symbols on the walls, on small bits throughout the scene you can see that Sam's got Cybertronian marks in his arms (the ones he shows to the twins later in the film); yet he doesn't get them until some 6 or 7 minutes after, when Megatron holds his arms with his claws.
(at around 39 mins) When the Decepticons travel on a ship to revive Megatron, one of them is disguised as a wheel loader. When Ravage impacts just seconds later, the wheel loader is gone and replaced by a bagger. During the same cut, the cement mixer obviously moved back (where there wouldn't be any room according to the first shot) to make room for Ravage, who's lurking around the bagger tracks in the next scene.
(at around 19 mins) Lennox is wearing a black belt over his uniform during NEST's return to base. During the next scene when he meets with Galloway, the belt disappears then returns once the pair enters the hanger.
(at around 2h 5 mins) When 'Operation Firestorm' is initiated, the American force that we see landing on a beach appears to be an all-U.S. Marine force; however, the forces that eventually arrive to the battlefield seems to be mainly U.S. Army, as evidenced by their vehicles and uniforms. The Marines are seen using LVTP-7 landing vehicles and M1A1 Abrams tanks, while during the final battle we see Army Bradley fighting vehicles and M1A2 Abrams tanks.
(at around 54 mins) The Saturn that Mikaela is driving has a moonroof that encompasses most of the roof, over the front and back seats. When the Decepticon Grindor captures them, in the interior shot looking up at Leo as Grindor seizes the Saturn, the car has a solid roof over Leo, which is also seen in the interior shot as they fall.
(at around 1h 20 mins) When Sam visits Simmons, his blue jacket is unzipped. Then in the Air and Space Museum, his jacket is zipped up and then unzipped again when Jetfire breaks out into the plane boneyard. In three consecutive scenes, his jacket goes from unzipped, to zipped, then back to unzipped.

Sam, Mikaela, Leo, Bumblebee, and 2 other Autobots hide out in the old brick building. As the humans are run out to leave, Bumblebee drives around the building with them already in the car. In the next scene they run out of the building, jump into Bumblebee, and drive off.
(at around 1h 30 mins) During the aerial scene showing Bumblebee, Mudflap, and Skids driving down the road headed to Jordan, the sand is a reddish brown and there are large rock formations. When the camera pans down to show the front of Bumblebee's Camaro alt. form, the sand is now white, rocks have disappeared, and there is a wire fence with wood posts visible on the right side of the screen.
(at around 1h 24 mins) As Jetfire smashes his way out of the Kennedy Space Center he turns to speak to Sam in the airfield. As he does so he knocks one of the wings off the tail of one of the aircraft accidentally with his staff. A few moments later the same shot is used and the same tail section is completely intact.
(at around 2h 5 mins) As Sam and Mikaela make the final run to Lennox and Epps, it is apparent that the continuous scene was filmed at different times of the day. Shadows change as well as lighting; darker evening coloration with Lennox and Epps, and brighter midday lighting with Sam and Mikaela.
(at around 1h 30 mins) When Leo, Sam, Mikaela, and Simmons are going through the Egyptian check point, Wheelie pops up between Sam and Simmons, but Wheelie is never seen again in the movie. When everyone gets out of Bumblebee so he could create a diversion, Wheelie should of stepped out too, but he did not.
(at around 2h 20 mins) At the end of the movie when Sam and Optimus are standing on the bow of the aircraft carrier, the number is 71 (USS Theodore Roosevelt). However, in the aerial shot as it zooms out, the hull number is 74 (USS John Stennis).
(at around 1h 55 mins) In a single shot, when Devastator starts to form the whirlpool, the camera pans and a man screams "Ayuda!" (for 'help' in Spanish), the pan continues past a truck to reveal Leo and Simmons. Then Devastator's whirlpool sucks the truck and the man who screamed is not seen.
(at around 11 mins) When Mikaela phones Sam and says that she's breaking up with him, in the first shot of Sam as he walks down the hallway toward his room there is no curtain in front of the window to the right, but in the second shot as he reaches his room, there are white curtains draped over the windows. Then, when Sam runs into the hallway because of the fire, the curtains are gone again. In fact, the white curtains are actually outside the window - someone had closed the windows over the curtains. The curtains reappear again when he runs back into his room with the extinguisher.
(at around 50 mins) In Sam's dorm room, there is a white mini fridge at the foot of his bed, flat against the wall under the Cloverfield poster. However, when Sam rushes after Mikaela just as Alice's 'tongue' grabs hold of his neck, that fridge has moved to in front of the closet door, but it moves back to its original position thereafter.
(at around 59 mins) During the forest scene where Optimus Prime is engaged in a battle to the death, Sam is scrambling for safety. In some of the shots both of his hands are uninjured, but in other shots you can see that his left hand is bandaged/splinted. (This is a result of his "real life" injury in a car accident during filming.)
(at around 9 mins) When Judy goes upstairs to pack after finding the baby booties, behind Ron there is a chair at the head of the dining room table, in front of the box he just taped. Then, just before Ron says, "Your mother and I are really proud of you" that chair has vanished, only to reappear when Judy shouts that she's crying again.
(at around 12 mins) When Sam is in his bedroom, after he finds the Cube shard it falls and dramatically burns a hole through the floor into the kitchen. But Sam's bedroom is over the living room (there is nothing on the ground floor below Sam's elevated bathroom, and in the first movie Jazz hides in this open space), and the kitchen is actually located between the den and dining room, at the other end of the house. If they were to follow the actual floor plan of the house, the Cube shard would have landed in the area of the piano in the living room.
(at around 47 mins) While Mikaela and Sam are on the phone with each other (after the failed webchat date the night before), when Wheelie starts reaching up for the safe's combination lock in the first shot, there are no mouse traps on the floor near the short stool to his left, nor are there any cigar boxes. However, in the next shot two mouse traps (a snap trap with cheese bait and a glue trap) and two cigar boxes have all suddenly appeared. Wheelie proceeds to step on the two traps and then stands on the two boxes to reach the combination lock.
(at around 54 mins) When Mikaela, Sam and Leo get into the Saturn there are no headrests on Sam's and Mikaela's seats, but when they kill the Pretender and are driving away, the headrests are suddenly there.
(at around 45 mins) In Astronomy 101, after Sam has written the symbols on the board, one symbol actually vanishes just after his professor's first close-up, and then reappears after the professor says, "I will not be punked in front of the dean."
(at around 55 mins) When Mikaela and Leo are in the silver Saturn, as Sam is hanging onto the passenger door, the rearview mirror is broken and hangs from the windshield, but is then intact once again.
The multiple shots of the sinking Aircraft carrier are primarily shots of the CVN 74 (USS John C. Stennis) but also have shots of the CVN 72 (USS Abraham Lincoln) and the CVN 71 (USS Theodore Roosevelt). It is reported later on the news as the Roosevelt, and the Stennis is seen towards the end of the movie perfectly fine and providing air support.
(at around 34 mins) At the frat party, when Alice pushes Sam's chair up against the bar counter, there is a girl wearing a pink tank top leaning back on the counter, but in the next shot she has been instantly replaced by another girl wearing a blue top.
(at around 11 mins) When Sam is on the cell with Mikaela, telling her about the long distance relationship kit, he reaches for the webcam with his right hand outstretched while holding the cell with his left, but in the close-up it's his left hand picking it up, while holding the cell with his right hand.
(at around 48 mins) After the Astronomy class, when Sam is in his dorm room he begins writing a green symbol on the Bad Boys II poster, but when Leo and Alice show up that first green symbol has completely changed its shape and its position on the poster.

(at around 55 mins) When Mikaela's car is carried by a Decepticon helicopter, they are dropped in the building and there's a shot showing the airbags activating, but in the following shots (when the car stops moving or when they are getting out) the airbags are nowhere to be seen.
(at around 50 mins) When Alice and Leo walk in on Sam in the symbol filled dorm room, on the wall at the head of Sam's bed are three small-to-medium sized framed photos of Sam and Mikaela hanging vertically. After Alice pushes Leo out of the room, the frames change. Now there are two large and medium frames hanging vertically and another medium frame hanging horizontally.
(at around 12 mins) When Sam is on the cell with Mikaela, the Cube shard falls onto the floor and Sam reaches down to pick it up with his left hand, as he holds the cell with his right hand. However in the close-up it's his right hand picking up the shard.
(at around 55 mins) When Grindor seizes the Saturn, Sam falls out of the door and in Mikaela's close-up Leo's arm hangs out of the rolled down back window, but in the next shot that window is rolled all the way up, only to be rolled down again in following shots.
(at around 28 mins) At Sam's dormitory, there is a bathroom directly across Sam's dorm room which has a blank wall beside its door, when he asks the RA to switch dorm rooms. However, when Leo joins him in the hall there is a large framed photo hanging there.
(at around 2h 15 mins) Just after Jetfire sacrifices himself, Ratchet orders Jolt to electrify, and we see Sam and Mikaela standing near Ratchet, but in the next shot when the Transformer's parts are flying towards Optimus, Sam is now a couple of feet away helping Mikaela stand up again.
(at around 1h 55 mins) When Devastator is sucking up the vehicles and structures at the construction site, the large camper's exterior is pulled off, leaving only the frame as the camper is pulled forward. However a few shots later, in an overhead wideshot that camper is still intact and straight, as Mudflap and Skids stand firm.
(at around 1h 50 mins) In one scene we're shown a Predator B UAV taking off. This is a shot of an actual Predator B, which is a pusher turboprop. In a later scene we come back to the Predator, now on site, in a CG shot. The CG model is some kind of mutant Predator with a turbojet - no prop at all. This is the same mutant CG model used in the first Transformers film, but here it is a continuity error with the real shots.
(at around 58 mins) When Optimus jumps in the factory, during the overhead shot, Megatron also starts a flip. But Optimus nearly hits the ground at the end of that shot, while Megatron is only half-way through. Yet in the following shot, they both land at the same time.
(at around 2h 15 mins) When Jetfire says 'A living Prime! I don't believe it!', he is leaning on a blue wall. When The Fallen arrives moments later to steal the Matrix, Jetfire is nowhere near the wall, while at the rate he is crawling, it would take some considerable time to cover any distance.
(at around 21 mins) When Optimus transforms at the NEST headquarters, Galloway, Epps and a third soldier are watching that from the ground. But when Epps says: "Gotta wonder. if God made us in his image. who made him?" the third soldier, who was standing behind Galloway and Epps instantly disappears.
(at around 1h 26 mins) When Sam has carved the circle of symbols into the ground, the aircraft behind him casts very different shadows upon the ground right up until everyone vanishes, when the cloud of dust caused by their disappearance appears.
(at around 1h 23 mins) Just after Jetfire's transformation, when he shouts, "Answer me, pawns and knaves!" he pushes the yellow Naval sea-plane (44), which hangs from the ceiling, out of the way. First problem is that we see it breaking apart and hear it crashing, yet we don't see any pieces anywhere in following shots. Second, when Wheelie mentions that Jetfire hasn't aged well, that sea-plane is back up where it was.
(at around 2h) At the start of Bumblebee and Rampage battling it out, Rampage knocks a car over onto its side (perpendicular to the car that's beside Ron and Judy). A few shots after the close-up of Bumblebee dropping his yellow faceplate over his face, that car gets overturned again behind Mikaela, though in between there are shots of the car already on its side. That car is down yet again when Bumblebee is attacked by Ravage, and then on its side again when Sam pulls Mikaela by her hand.
(at around 1h 24 mins) When Sam and the rest are chasing after Jetfire, explaining that they just want to talk, during their conversation Sam's arms repeatedly go from being raised way up or being down, depending on the camera angle.
(at around 5 mins) Near the beginning when they're in China, the NEST team is moving on a Decepticon reading and it should be right in front of them. There's an overhead shot and a shot looking into the concrete tubes to where the very large Decepticon is, but you can't see its vehicle form at all until it starts transforming and attacking the troops.
(at around 10 mins) When we see Mikaela for the first time (on the motorcycle, painting a devil on the side), she is lying forward on the bike, leaning over the right side. When the shot changes, she is leaning over the left side of the bike.
Twin's original Alt Mode (ice cream truck) has only one plastic ice cream on its roof.
However, in one moment while scanning new cars, Skids is seen in alt mode, having plastic ice cream on roof, while Mudflap (already in robot mode) is having it too.
(at around 19 mins) At NEST headquarters in Diego Garcia, when Galloway arrives holding up the Presidential order document, in the shot from behind him as he walks through the front gate, the booth is to his right (viewer's right) and the vehicle to his left (viewer's left), but in the shot facing him the booth is to his left (viewer's right) and the vehicle is to his right (viewer's left).
(at around 38 mins) During the scene establishing the Decepticons on the Bayos freight ship, vehicles change. The first shot, overhead, shows Long Haul (green dump truck), MixMaster (grey cement truck), Rampage (red bulldozer), and Scrapper (yellow front loader with wheels). The next shot shows Rampage as being yellow, and Scrapper is now some yellow Volvo vehicle with treads and a claw. Also, by the angle of this shot and based on the previous shot, there would not be an angle to see through the background vehicles. In the next shot, when the transformers jump overboard, Rampage is red again, and the Volvo with treads is now the front loader Scrapper again.
(at around 12 mins) When the Cube shard burns through the floor and falls onto the kitchen table, in the overhead shot there is a red stool on the side of the table (bottom of screen) with the bowl of cereal, but as the appliances transform that stool is at the wall beside the doorway. It reappears beside the table a few shots later, as the transformed blender jumps on it.
(at around 52 mins) After Mikaela throws the metal box at Alice and breaks the window, when Sam runs out of his dorm room screaming we see (and have seen multiple times prior to this) the wall and bathroom door opposite his door. Oddly enough, in the next shot from the hallway, Sam, Mikaela and Leo are actually leaving from a door that's farther down the hallway. Sam's actual door is the first one on the right, opposite the bathroom door.
(at around 1h 22 mins) At the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, when Mikaela, Sam and Simmons follow Wheelie they reach Jetfire's enclosure with the large information plaque attached to the metal front bar, as Wheelie faces them. Next shot, that whole front horizontal bar is gone along with the information plaque, and Wheelie now faces Jetfire. Then when the Cube shard attaches itself to Jetfire the metal horizontal bar reappears, though the large plaque is still gone, and that bar vanishes once again in the shot from under Jetfire.
(at around 1h 16 mins) At the deli, when Sam, Mikaela and Leo are talking to Simmons, his mother shouts, "Moron, where's the white fish?" and there are four cans on the meat counter, but when it cuts to close-up there are only three.
(at around 1h 15 mins) When Sam, Mikaela and Leo arrive at Simmons's deli, in the exterior shot the deli has a single front door which is glass covered, featuring bars on the store's windows. However, when Sam walks in and when Simmons tries to walk away from Sam, we see there are double front doors with a meat poster on one, and there are no bars outside of the store's window.
(at around 54 mins) When Mikaela deliberately rams the Saturn into the pole, in the front shot both headlights are perfectly intact after the impact, but in following shots the car's left headlight is gone.
(at around 46 mins) When Sam phones Mikaela after missing their webchat date he drops his books and papers, and one book falls upright on the top stair in front of him, which promptly vanishes and then reappears as the last book he picks up. All the books and papers keep changing in his arms between shots as well.
(at around 1h 30 mins) In Egypt, when Sam says, "We got cops!" they're at a fork in the road, and with two police cars heading towards them from the left of the 'fork', Sam drives to the right of the 'fork'. However, in the next shot, the two police cars are driving past Bumblebee and the twins on the very same road, just before the police cars make their U-turns.
(at around 2h) When Bumblebee is battling Rampage, there's a close-up of Bumblebee as he dramatically drops his yellow faceplate over his face. In the next shot, Sam is on the ground in front of the car on its side (Rampage overturned it moments before). Problem is in the next shot Mikaela is also in front of that very same car, but Sam is gone, and she wasn't seen in the previous shot of Sam either.
(at around 35 mins) When Bumblebee shows up at the frat party with the horn blaring, Sam looks outside and sees the car on the lawn flashing headlights with a clean front bumper. Yet when Sam questions Bumblebee, there are bush branches all over the bumper.
(at around 48 mins) When Sam rushes back to his dorm room, he paints the first symbol on the Bad Boys II poster, then rips the top poster off the wall and paints large symbols on the wall in its place. That poster remains gone in all the following shots except for two, where it is back on the wall above the Bad Boys poster. First when Sam knocks over the microwave and then when Alice fully transforms on Sam's bed.
(at around 50 mins) When Leo and Alice walk in on Sam in the symbol filled dorm room, there are large yellow symbols on the closet door which are partially erased when he knocks over the microwave, then back to the way it was originally.
(at around 34 mins) At the frat party, when Sam uses the cake frosting to write the symbols, in the first shot he writes the first symbol with perpendicular lines aligned with the cake's edge. In a following shot showing more frosting symbols, the original two lines have changed shape and position - none of the symbols are aligned with the cake's edge.
(at around 2h 15 mins) Optimus knocks over Megatron, and collides with the Fallen, knocking him off of the pyramid. But in the next shot where Optimus blows up the machine with a single shot, the Fallen is nowhere to be seen, and in the shot directly afterwards, he is right below Optimus.
(at around 59 mins) After Sam's rescue from the Decepticon doctor's brain surgery, when Optimus transforms we see Sam rolling on the ground near the trees and in the next shot he gets up and runs behind the trees as Optimus shouts, "Hide, Sam!" However, in the next shot Sam is still rolling on the ground.
(at around 1h 23 mins) When Jetfire tries to leave the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar and says, "I command these doors to open," there is a shot of Sam, Mikaela, Simmons and Leo standing at the tip of what was Jetfire's enclosure bars, looking up, a bit to their right as if Jetfire was directly in front of them. In the next shot Jetfire, who is way down at the end of the hangar, breaks down the door and heads out. Next shot, they're all still looking up in the very same direction, even though they should be looking all the way to their right, straight ahead into the distance.
(at around 1h 23 mins) After Jetfire's transformation, when he snipes, "You little spinal-cord-based organisms," he knocks the Mercury capsule and it falls. In the shot facing Jetfire, as it rolls toward Sam and the others, Jetfire is no longer standing within his enclosure, he is actually to the left of it. However, in the next shot as the Mercury capsule rolls toward Sam, the teenager is standing directly in front of the enclosure's bars.
(at around 1h 26 mins) At the aircraft 'boneyard', Sam uses a dagger to carve a huge circle of symbols into the ground, and in the first close-up Sam finishes up a specific symbol at the top of the circle, sticks the dagger in the dirt and stands up. In the next overhead wideshot, Sam is not only still kneeling and then stands up again, but he was actually kneeling at a different symbol located at the bottom of the circle.
(at around 1h 23 mins) As Jetfire transforms, Simmons orders everyone to hide by the Mig, and as they run to it the tall lighting pole is positioned in the open area between Jetfire's enclosure and two red-trimmed glass showcases. But when Jetfire begins to ask, "What sort of hideous mausoleum is this?" that tall pole is now between the two showcases and there are metal posts with red rope suddenly surrounding it. Then when Jetfire breaks out of the hangar, the lighting pole and metal posts have all vanished.
(at around 25 mins) When Sam meets Leo in the dorm room, the bike near the window is not chained/padlocked to the metal bed frame springs. However, when Leo complains about Robo-Warrior the bike is chained/padlocked to the bed frame, but when Sam's parents walk in it's not again. Additionally, the bed frame moves from being in front of the window closer to the corner, to being directly in front of the window fan.
(at around 25 mins) When Sam enters his dorm room for the first time (carrying the box), the two large stickers (rectangular and round) are to the right of the two posters on the door, but in the following shots both of the stickers are to the left of the posters.
(at around 1h 6 mins) When the Decepticon meteors are heading towards the aircraft carrier, we can see several aircraft carriers. When the meteors land, only one aircraft carrier is shown, and the surrounding boats disappear.
(at around 36 mins) When Alice and Sam are driving away from the party in Bumblebee after she gets squirted with "fluid", we see that they are driving down a city block. Each subsequent shot out the side windows from inside the car show distant blurry lights - not buildings we should be seeing.
(at around 1h 45 mins) When Leo is freaking out in the back seat of the car, Simmons, who is in the front seat, pulls out the taser to use on Leo and holds it in his left hand as he turns around. Yet in Leo's close-up, as he's being zapped, the taser is in Simmons's right hand, but next shot the taser is back in his left hand.
(at around 1h 21 mins) After Leo uses the taser on the security guard in the bathroom, the guard is sprawled out on the floor with his left arm lying beside him and the TP roll above his arm, but next shot the guard's arm is up parallel to his shoulder, with the TP roll now between his arm and torso.
(at around 1h 21 mins) When Leo walks out of the bathroom with his pants down saying, "Ran out of toilet paper, you got any out here?", the security guard behind him is walking towards him, at the right of the airplane. Next shot that security guard behind him is to the left of the airplane.
(at around 2h 5 mins) When Simmons is on the radio with Captain Wilder, who is aboard the USS Stennis, the radio cord around Simmons's neck is either over or under the flight jacket's fur collar, and then in the last shot the cord is suddenly off.
(at around 2h 10 mins) When Lennox is trying to revive Sam, there is a close-up of the sock starting to slip out of Sam's grasp, but it's still in his hand. Then when the medics are using the paddles on Sam, clearly there is nothing in his bandaged hand. The problem is that there is another close-up of Sam's hand, after Mikaela professes her love, and the sock is still there in Sam's hand before it dramatically falls (it's the same close-up angle as the previous shot).
(at around 1h 21 mins) In the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Simmons grabs a leather flight jacket, puts it on and when he stands perfectly still between two mannequins his fur collar is first flipped up then flat down, between shots.
(at around 1h 20 mins) Before heading into the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, when Simmons pulls the taser out of his bag and turns it on he holds it in his right hand, but in Leo's close-up as he starts to freak out, the taser's in Simmons's left hand, then it's back in Simmons's right hand, between shots.
(at around 22 mins) At NEST headquarters in Diego Garcia, when Optimus points his finger at Galloway and says, "We've witnessed your human capacity for war," both of Lennox's arms are up and crossed in front of him, then they're down and clasped behind him, and then back to crossed in front of him, between shots.
(at around 10 mins) After Judy goes upstairs to pack, as Ron has a heart to heart with Sam, the dogs jump onto the couch and there are striped and patterned pillows beside Mojo. When Ron says, "Mojo, no dominating Frankie," the striped pillow is gone from that side of the couch.
(at around 22 mins) At NEST headquarters, when Galloway shows up and speaks via camera with General Morshower, he is seen on the monitor buttoning up his suit jacket, but in person his jacket remains unbuttoned.
(at around 1h 3 mins) When Megatron heads toward the tower in jet mode, he transforms and is seen upside-down front flipping towards the tower before he lands. About a split second when he lands, he faces the other way instead of facing the tower.
(at around 1h 2 mins) When Optimus is shot in the battle in the forest, he loses one of the chrome bumpers on his chest, and the other one is heavily damaged. The latter one is attached to HIS right side. But in the shot where he says: 'Sam, run', the bumper is attached to the left side of his chest.
(at around 1h 23 mins) At the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar, the entire information booth that is directly behind Jetfire (it was seen close-up when Leo walked out of the bathroom with his pants down) has vanished as he exclaims, "Behold the eternal glory of Jetfire!"
(at around 56 mins) When Megatron sarcastically asks Sam, "You remember me, don't you?" Sam stops on the landing between the two flights of stairs and puts his hands up, but in the next shot Sam, whose hands are still in mid-air, is standing much farther down on the second flight of stairs.
(at around 37 mins) When Optimus Prime and Sam are having their discussion in the cemetery, green mark tape directing Shia LaBeouf where to stand is clearly visible on the grass immediately in front of him.
(at around 1h 3 mins) After the forest fight, Sam is in Bee's Camaro alt. form. Sam sticks his head out the passenger side window and the face of the driver is temporarily visible in the rearview mirror.
(at around 1h 11 mins) When Optimus Prime's body is being returned to base and suddenly gets surrounded by U.S. Marines; after the shot where Major Lennox objects and beats on the hood of a Humvee, the cameraman's shadow is visible on him in a panning shot and then again on Galloway's body in an over-shoulder view.
The scene involving Egypt, Jordan, and the Bay of Aqaba is a geographic mess. Petra is almost 1,000 km. from the pyramids, which are just outside Cairo, which is hundreds of kilometers inland from the Mediterranean.
(at around 40 mins) In Transformers Megatron was dropped into the Laurentian Abyss in the Atlantic Ocean. In both movies this is erroneously portrayed as being deeper than it is in reality. "9,000 fathoms" is given in this film. In fact, the deepest point in the ocean is the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean, which is almost 6,000 fathoms deep.
(at around 1h 26 mins) When they leave America, it is the middle of the day. They arrive in Egypt at the same time as they left, yet it is the middle of the day there too. Egypt is 8 hours ahead of New York, so it should be evening when they arrive.
(at around 1h 24 mins) When Jetfire is reactivated at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia, he blasts open a hangar door and steps outside. The exterior shot shows him and the other protagonists in the "bone yard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona.
(at around 1h 3 mins) An establishing shot shows Manhattan. The very next shot shows two Transformers on top of a building in Downtown Los Angeles; the Aon Center and US Bank Tower are clearly visible.
When in Egypt, the sand changes from red to white. The scenery also dramatically changes during the final Pyramid fight, as there is red sand and large rock formations in the pit with Leo and Simmons; and there is white sand and rolling dunes where the Autobots and Sam are. The two protagonist groups are not that far away from each other, making the dramatic changes physically impossible.
In a few scenes in the movie, the USAF characters are at a military base in New Jersey, with a desert-like environment and mountains in the distance. New Jersey does not have a desert or big mountains.
(at around 55 mins) When a H-53 picks up Sam and Mikela they are on the East Coast in close-ups, but a wide shot shows San Diego in the background, including the Coronado Bay Bridge and the USS Midway.
(at around 2h 10 mins) When the medical helicopter flies in during the end battle, you can see "White Sands Missile Range" written on the side of the door. The battle is supposed to be in Egypt; a WSMR helicopter would not be there. The aircraft was painted red, white, and Blue. The medic was wearing US Army ACU body armor, implying that he was on a "tactical" aircraft, so the plane should have been olive green. it also should have been a BlackHawk, not the Huey depicted.
(at around 2 mins) When the film begins, at 10:14 pm in Shanghai, it is still slightly light outside, especially at the horizon. At that hour in the summertime, the sun have gone down. There might be some light in the sky, especially if there was a full moon. (Shanghai is 8 or 9 hours ahead of Zulu Time (GMT), meaning the events of the movie would be after dawn and occur in broad daylight, which is obviously not the case.)
(at around 1h 45 mins) When the team is jumping out of their aircraft into what should be the desolate Egyptian desert, a full modern two runway airstrip can be seen as they exit the rear of the aircraft.
(at around 1 min) In the opening sequence (dated 17,000 BC) what appear to be African tribesmen are show hunting a tiger. Tigers have never been indigenous to Africa. In fact the last common ancestor of tigers and other big cats probably left Africa 2 million years ago. Modern humans first left Africa 70,000 years ago and began to diverge so humans hunting tigers in Asia 19,000 years ago would not have appeared African.
When the USS Topeka (SSN-754) is operating on the surface, the footage shown is an early flight I Los Angeles Class submarine. The Topeka is a 688I class; its diving planes should be on its bow, not its sail.
(at around 1h 35 mins) When Lennox is giving Galloway a parachute in the plane he asks him if he is familiar with the MC-4 parachute. However, when Galloway pulls the cord and gets pulled out of the plane, his parachute is round. The MC-4 is actually a ram air parachute that is rectangular in shape.
(at around 1h 30 mins) The handheld GPS unit Agent Simmons uses in Egypt (Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx) is shown being viewed sideways while in reality maps are only shown on it in a vertical format. Additionally, the graphics shown on it in the movie are much more detailed than the real unit is capable of producing.
(at around 2h 10 mins) During the pyramid fight scene Agent Simmons calls for a fire mission from the USS Kidd. The vessel shown answering the fire mission is DDG 88 (USS Preble) not DDG 100 (USS Kidd).
(at around 1h 4 mins) When Sam's parents are in Paris, his mom receives a phone call. The cell phone she picks up is a Sprint LG Lotus, but Sprint doesn't provide CDMA service to Paris, so this phone wouldn't have had any service.
When the Transformers are in robot form, their paint jobs are chipped, scratched and weathered. When they are vehicles, the same paint is super-glossy and waxed with no blemishes. However, it could be possible that they use the same hologram system that they use to create fake drivers.
(at around 1h 10 mins) While the cargo planes are marked AETC on the tail. AETC is "Air Education Training Command", which is only used for training pilots. Once a pilot is trained on a cargo plane, they would fly for AMC, "Air Mobility Command". However, since NEST doesn't officially exist, flying under the AETC could be part of their cover so not to expose the existence of the Autobots.
During the F-16 air strike, several of the F-16's are Thunderbirds, painted red, white, and blue. Although these are used for air shows, they are maintained in a fully combat-ready state (except for the paint scheme and the addition of a smoke generator) and could readily be pressed into service in a time of emergency.
(at around 1h 17 mins) At the end of Transformers, Frenzy is killed by his own weapon, cutting his head in half. In this film, the head is in Simmons' secret room, in a glass case, fully intact. Simmons likely repaired the head as a trophy.
None of the Transformers transform in the same manner twice, or transform in the same manner as they did in Transformers. ILM deliberately animated the transformations uniquely so that the movements could follow smoothly from the character's actions, such as Bumblebee emerging from the garage at the start. It can be taken for granted that these Transformers, unlike those in the cartoon, can vary their transformation.
(at around 1h 4 mins) When Soundwave orders the Decepticons to mobilize, a shot of 4 robots flying to earth is the exact same shot of the Autobots coming to earth from Transformers. Although it is the same shot, more falling protoforms have been added in the background to give the impression of mass invasion.
(at around 19 mins) When Skids and Mudflap enter the military hangar to upgrade from the ice cream truck, they get to choose between becoming a Chevy Beat and a Chevy Trax. Skids chooses the Chevy Beat, which already has his name on the license plate. However, given the lower intelligence of these two robots the military may have already had their names on the plates in order to avoid the fight that happened anyway (the fight of who was going to be what car).
(at around 1h 45 mins) While flying over the desert, you can see a pilot inside Starscream. In previous shots (the 3 riders on the motorcycles) and in Transformers, Transformers often use "digital pilots" to enhance their disguise. Although the digital pilot would not really work since Starscream has a bunch of tattoos, it could just be a "default" setting to display the pilot when in jet mode.
According to the Secretary of Defense in Transformers there were no survivors from the base attack in Qatar. In this movie Glenn Morshower (SOCCENT Colonel Sharp) returns and is now General Morshower. As indicated by the different name, this is an entirely different character from the one who died in Qatar.
NEST is actually part of the US Department of Energy rather than Defense, as the acronym stands for "Nuclear Emergency Support Team." However it's entirely possible for two groups in two different agencies to share an acronym, especially if one of them is secret. Given that the Transformers are radioactive, making the public confuse their unit with the Nuclear Emergency Support Team would work to their advantage in keeping them secret.
(at around 1h 14 mins) When they go to meet Agent Simmons in New York City, there is a shot of the Brooklyn Bridge with the American flag on the eastern tower of the bridge. Although, earlier in the film, the Constructicon Mixmaster knocked the flag off the tower who is to say that the flag had not been replaced. As patriotic as Americans are they may have had it quickly replaced as a sign of strength.
(at around 54 mins) When Sam and Mikaela are driving away from the college with Alice on the hood, Mikaela slams the car into a pole and drives away. The airbags do not deploy. Air bags do not deploy 100% of the time. Moments later, Megatron drops the car into a warehouse. The airbags deploy because the impact was much greater.
(at around 1h 7 mins) An overhead scene of the Pentagon identifies it as "The Pentagon - Washington D.C." The Pentagon is in Arlington, Virginia, but Arlington's politics and economy are heavily dependent on Washington, so many Arlingtonians refer to as themselves as living in Washington.
According to the creators of the film, the Constructicons are a legion of robots with one of seven body types. This is why Long Haul (Green Dump Truck), Rampage (Bulldozer), Scrapper (Yellow Scoop Loader) and Mixmaster (Cement Mixer) can fight Bumblebee's group, while also seemingly being part of Devastator at the same time.
(at around 1h 50 mins) When the Decepticons start to surround Agent Simmons and Leo in the quarry, drivers can be seen through the windscreens of the trucks. The drivers are holograms generated for disguise.
(at around 28 mins) When Sam's mom eats the cannabis brownie she gets high in what seems like 5 or 10 minutes. The director's commentary and deleted scenes reveal that more time has elapsed than that but is not shown on screen in order to move the story forward.
The Air Force character Epps was a Technical Sergeant in Transformers and is a Chief Master Sergeant in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which takes place two years later. It is plausible that he was able to make rank that quickly as he did help to save the world from the invading Decepticons in the first movie.
Despite the battle apparently taking place very close to Cairo, no Egyptian military forces are seen responding to what should be a very plainly obvious threat, other than a possibly Egyptian Black Hawk that can be seen being pulled up by The Fallen on the pyramid, and even then it looks more like one of the Jordanian helicopters seen earlier.
A mainly American force and the NEST team are seen in the final battle.
(at around 1h 3 mins) Megatron tells Starscream that it is time for the Decepticons to let the world know of their presence. To that point, Transformers have destroyed a gigantic chunk of a major metropolitan city in America, a large chunk of Shanghai, have had battles in four other continents, rampaged across a major college campus, destroyed a forest, and stomped around the Witwickys' backyard multiple times. There is no conceivable way that the human race does not know of the existence of the Transformers at this point.
(at around 1h 45 mins) When Bumblebee and the other two Chevy hatchback Autobots are driving through the desert and come under Decepticon attack before the big battle at the pyramids, the same shot of Decepticon-fired shells hitting the sand around the vehicles and the vehicles swerving to avoid these strikes is used twice.
(at around 1h 8 mins) When The Fallen takes over the TVs and demands "this boy", a Social Security card is shown bearing the number B216-31-1892, and the name "Samuel James Witwicky". Several frames later, a totally different Social Security card is shown bearing the number B5420-29-8261 and the name "Sam Witwicky". Obviously the numbers are intentionally fictional, but they should not differ.
(at around 1h 13 mins) When Sam, Mikaela, Leo, Skids, Mudflap, and Bumblebee decide to continue instead of going to the authorities, Bumblebee transforms into the Camaro and nudges Sam by rolling forward a short distance, then reversing. As Bumblebee backs up, a driver wearing a balaclava is visible.
(at around 22 mins) When the Autobots are in the hangar, and Optimus Prime is doing his report to the general, director Galloway interrupts them and talks about their weaponry. The scene repeats at the end, when he asks if the Autobots would leave the planet peacefully.
(at around 1h 35 mins) When the NEST team is in the cargo plane over Egypt, the pilots announce that they are having a problem with the plane. The plane Major Lennox is in rolls over to an almost 90 degree angle before straightening up. In the cargo hold the soldiers are only slightly jostled. But all of the soldiers should have been slammed into the port side wall by gravity during this maneuver.
(at around 2h 5 mins) A group of F-16 fighters flying in formation bank off to engage the Decepticons. Inexplicably, they each launch flares, a decoy for heat-seeking missiles, as they break formation. (This is likely because it's stock footage of F-16s on maneuvers.)
(at around 1h 5 mins) When the Decepticons are descending onto the "US 2nd Fleet", you see a series of shots around the Carrier (CVN-74 John C Stennis) showing no accompanying ships, but the overhead shot shows two submarines in front, and seven cruisers/destroyers alongside and behind the carrier. The following scene, a few seconds later, shot from the front of the carrier as it gets hit by several Decepticons shows only one accompanying cruiser with no other ships or wakes visible, and the next scene, when the carrier splits in half and sinks, shows no other ships at all.
The goof items below may give away important plot points.
In the areal shot of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, a number of F-14D Tomcats are on deck. The United States Navy retired its last Tomcats on Sept 22, 2006. When the carrier is sinking, no Tomcats appear. This is likely due to old file footage being used for the initial shot, and CGI for the sinking.
(at around 54 mins) When Sam runs into the car to escape Alice, she sticks her 'metal tongue' through the windshield, smashing the window on Sam's side and leaving a jagged edge. In the next shot, the window is fixed (a new whole window). As they drive away, the window has been cut away cleanly, with no jagged edges.
(at around 2h 5 mins) After Devastator has ripped off the top of the pyramid, Agent Simmons gives coordinates to a US Navy aircraft carrier. Simmons is supposed to be on the same pyramid, but you can clearly see the same pyramid in the background without any damage.
(at around 2h 10 mins) In the climactic battle in the desert, Sam, Mikaela, Lennox, and Epps run from the building as the bombs explode. As Ironhide emerges from the smoke, his left arm cannon clearly falls off as he runs. When the Fallen arrives and knocks all the Autobots over taking the Matrix of leadership off Optimus Prime, Ironhide has both arm cannons intact.
(at around 1h 6 mins) When the Decepticons destroy the USS Theodore Roosevelt, EA-6B Prowlers (they look like an A-6 with a "football" on the tail) can clearly be seen forward of the bridge, their traditional parking place on the flight deck. When the ship sinks, the Prowlers have been replaced by SH-60s, which are sliding down the flight deck.
(at around 1h 1 min) Optimus Prime kills Grindor by ripping its face apart, after which Grindor falls over. But when Megatron kills Optimus, Grindor is gone. A huge robot like that would most definitely be seen in the wide shot with Megatron and Prime.
(at around 2h 10 mins) Only one Pyramid in Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, has a smooth top. The machine to harvest Energon is hidden in that pyramid, and the whole fight takes place there. You can see the smooth top when Devastator is climbing the Pyramid. However, every shot is taken on the Pyramid of Khufu. For example, when agent Simmons is climbing the Khufu Pyramid, Khafre, which he should be climbing, is visible in the back.
When the Decepticons sink the carrier, the hull number changes from 74 (the USS John C. Stennis, the ship Simmons radios for the rail gun fire mission) to 72 (the USS Abraham Lincoln) and then back to 74. News reporters later identify it as the USS Theodore Roosevelt, whose hull number is 71.
During the scenes in the desert, some have claimed that Mikaela's white jeans stay perfectly white. However, it is obvious that they become dirty as the battle progresses though maybe not as fast as some may think they should. This is obvious in the seen when Sam is injured - her jeans are dirty. It also should be noted that the sand is white too.
(at around 1h 30 mins) Only a Prime can kill a Prime, thus Optimus must be revived to kill the Fallen. Megatron easily killed Optimus. Optimus Prime is not an original Prime, he is only a Prime by being the next leader of the Autobots and by having the Matrix of Leadership thus having Megatron kill Optimus is a possibility.
(at around 2h 15 mins) Sam was lying on ground after explosion and has swollen jaw and burn on left cheek. When he stands up to hug Mikaela he has no burns on cheek and his jaw is no longer swollen. This is no doubt caused by the power of the Matrix of Leadership bringing him back to life.
When the pyramid eating robot is throwing rubble on the Sphinx, in the foreground, there are pigeons on the nose of the sphinx. This is not a mistake as that is actual footage of the sphinx as noted in the director's commentary.
(at around 1h 2 mins) Soundwave announces that Optimus Prime is dead before he actually dies. This is because he's in contact with Megatron and Megatron has stopped his attack, something he'd only do after knowing Prime was going to die. Thus although Prime wasn't physically dead, there was no doubt he was finished.
(at around 2h 10 mins) Near the end when Sam and Mikaela are running towards Prime, on the last Airstrike, when they drop the large bomb, at least one viewer thinks an explosion/reflection can be seen over Mikaela but not Sam, a compositing error. This is not possible - this shot was a "practical effect" in which the explosion was actually set off behind the actors, and according to the cast it set the world record for the largest special effects explosion performed with actors on set.
(at around 39 mins) One of the reasons for sending Megatron down into the deep ocean was that it was cold to keep him frozen. According to the Prequel Comic, Megatron was frozen on Earth due to a lack of Energon. Whereas, the drop team that revives him was more than likely fully-energized and capable of resisting the cold and depth of the ocean.
(at around 39 mins) When the Decepticons go under water to revive Megatron, the Navy states that 5 "objects" went under water. If one of the Decepticons was killed to bring Megatron back to life, 6 "objects" could not have come out of the water: Ravage spits out the Doctor Robot (5+1=6), one gets stripped into parts (6-1=5), Megatron gets reactivated (5+1=6), and Ravage swallows the Doctor to head back to the surface (6-1=5).
(at around 1h 35 mins) The "three kings" stars of Orion's belt were supposed to mark the location of the hidden tomb of the Primes, as seen at sunrise from the Dagger's Tip. But stars are at a slightly different point in the sky at sunrise each day, so they could not accurately point the way to the tomb at sunrise except on one day each year. No date was specified in the clue.
(at around 2h 20 mins) Mikaela and Sam are running through the desert. They are being shot at; explosions going off around them; they jump and fall off buildings that explodes and collapses around them and when everything is over, Sam's clothes are in rags and pieces and he is burned, scarred and bloody. Meanwhile Mikaela, who has gone through the same ordeal as Sam, looks like she's just left the make-up chair.
