Interesting premise but not really delivered in a way that suggests a real plan or purpose

Christine owns Greasby's auction house, a small family business that auctions all sorts of lost and reclaimed property. In particular they auction on lost luggage from airports etc. At the auctions the luggage is sold sight unseen with only a vague description of contents. This film looks behind the scenes at the auction house as well as following a couple of people who plan to take a gamble on bidding.

An interesting subject for a reality documentary (a "quirkumentary" if you will) but perhaps it was best as a pitch rather than a thirty minute film. The lack of a hook beyond the pitch is quite evident and it is a stretch to fill the time. This is best seen in the amount of time spent with Lillian; sure she is stunning but there isn't much to her story that provides real interest – a point best illustrated by her closing words "I used to worry about losing my suitcase but then I didn't so what's the worry?". This line is one of the closing ones and was chosen by the makers – it didn't just sneak in there, it seemed to be selected as a sound-bite to close the film.

I found it quite engaging to see the auction house in operation and it was interesting to see all this lost luggage and think where it had come from and where it was going, but to deliver a short film on it requires a real vision and aim, something that I didn't think director Bennett did that well. More humour, more quirk, that was probably what was needed but instead it does rather slide once the initial novelty value had worn off. Not a great film then and to get by on what it does it could really have done with being half the running time.
