Refining a masterpiece.
12 January 2020 | by giannisspirouSee all my reviews

The original Persona 5 was my favourite videogame of all time and one of the best videogames I've ever played, so, Persona 5 Royal was my most anticipated game for some time, surpassing my hype for Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us Part II e.t.c. Was it worth it? The story is even longer, it still has those over the top, absolute amazing moments and plot twists as well, it has some changes and overall it's even better. The gameplay is improved in every way! More mechanics, more Personas, it plays more smooth and satisfying... they pretty much perfected an already perfect gameplay aspect! Same with the characters; Persona 5's cast was my absolute favourite! In Persona 5 Royal, not only they added more, very well written characters, but they gave more screen time and better development to those who needed them. The Palaces are bigger for more exploration and more challenge! The music is fantastic once again. I still prefer Persona 5's "exclusive" soundtracks, but Persona 5 Royal's "exclusive" soundtracks come very close thanks to their unique theme! The small changes for the bosses who needed them are appreciated! The graphics' quality is slightly better as well. Also, better pacing and more freedom! My 2 complains about Persona 5 are no more! My only complain about Persona 5 Royal is that the bonus content is not as much as I expected it to be, until the last semester... otherwise, what more could I ask for!?

Pros: Better story, better gameplay, better characters, more content (more characters, mechanics, stuff, Personas & endings), palaces' improvements, bosses' improvements and better visuals.

Cons: Pacing of the bonus content.

Final Rating: 10/10 - Masterpiece. Persona 5 was my favourite videogame of all time; Persona 5 Royal is Persona 5 at it's finest and the peak of Persona games!
