Ibrahim lives in an asylum center near Copenhagen. Devastation runs thick; a man commits suicide leaving his wife in tears. Ibrahim has a newspaper route, and when he has an accident he is helped by Ingrid, a pregnant woman who lives in a posh house. Soon after Ingrid and her husband are in a car crash, and Ingrid dies. Ibrahim's application for asylum from the prosecution he fears in Rwanda is rejected. He runs away and ends up at Ingrid's house. He finds only her devastated husband, Halfdan, who turns him away. But Ibrahim sneaks in and stays in the house, and little by little, and with the help of a shared love of math, they become friends.
