Halloween Kills writer Danny McBride lassos frontier Western

  • JoBlo
Actor, writer, and producer Danny McBride is an interesting cat. While he's often seen as merely the schlubby douchebag from films like Pineapple Express or the over-the-top Kenny Powers from Eastbound and Down, the guy is honestly so much more than that. He's dabbled in science fiction (Alien: Covenant) and horror with last years's successful reboot of Halloween. Well you can now…

AppleTV+ must like what it's seeing from the first season of Dickinson, its upcoming dramedy about a young Emily Dickinson. According to THR, the subscription streaming service has already renewed the series for a second season, which has already begun production.

Yesss. This presumably means we won't have to wait too long between seasons one and two.

Dickinson stars Hailee Steinfeld as the eponymous character. Set in the 1800s, it tells the story of the young poet with a "modern sensibility" The series will explore social and gender constraints of the time told by a writer who doesn’t fit in it. James Franco’s ‘Zeroville’ Bombs With Measly $8,900 on 80 Screens

James Franco’s ‘Zeroville’ Bombs With Measly $8,900 on 80 Screens
It was just two years ago that James Franco was enjoying critical acclaim and a Golden Globe for “The Disaster Artist”; but the actor and filmmaker’s latest film, “Zeroville,” has resulted in him hitting a new box office low.

While Franco has had plenty of mainstream success with films like “Pineapple Express” and the original “Spider-Man” trilogy, much of his recent filmography has turned to starring in and directing arthouse films that are released by niche distributors on a very small number of screens for less than a month. Aside from “The Disaster Artist,” the five other films directed by Franco, including “Zeroville,” have grossed less than $30,000 and have never had a release wider than 100 screens.

And of these films, “Zeroville” has had the lowest per screen average of any of them. According to data from comScore,

‘Preacher’ Series Finale: The Search Ends For AMC’s Subversive Saga

  • Deadline
Spoiler Warning: This article reveals major plot points for tonight’s series finale of Preacher on AMC.

Preacher, on paper, seemed like a television pitch that didn’t have a prayer. The fact that Sunday night marked the end of the fourth and final season of the AMC series from executive producers Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) and Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg would qualify as a miracle if the show’s brimstone scent and penchant for the profane didn’t disqualify it from general competition.

For four seasons, the show followed the wild-eyed quest of Dominic Cooper’s Jesse Custer, the West Texas preacher with a grim job history. His entire flock in West Texas was flattened and killed when he became possessed by a supernatural entity (who turned out to be the offspring of an unnatural coupling

Hear Huey Lewis and the News Return with First New Song in Over 10 Years ‘Her Love Is Killin’ Me’

Hear Huey Lewis and the News Return with First New Song in Over 10 Years ‘Her Love Is Killin’ Me’
Huey Lewis and the News have returned with their first new song in over 10 years, “Her Love Is Killin’ Me,” a snappy rocker that will appear on the band’s forthcoming album, which is expected to arrive in 2020.

The track is delightfully reminiscent of Huey Lewis and the News’ Eighties heyday, with crisp drums and bass buoying organ, guitar and a punchy horn section. Lewis’ voice sits a little lower in his register, but he still packs his vocals with plenty of spirit as he sings, “My head hurts, my

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg Developing Unprofessionals, a Comedy Series About Low-Level United Nations Workers

Seth Rogan, known for acting in Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, and 50/50, has actually been producing tons of projects behind the scenes over the years, including the films listed, as well as many others. His most recent producing credits have been for some fan favorite series, such as Preacher and The Boys. And co-producing alongside him on all of these projects has been Evan Goldberg. The guys have a good thing going, as their projects are pretty successful. And now they have another iron in the fire.

One of the many projects in their future is a comedy series for CBS called UNprofessionals, which THR describes as follows:

The comedy will take a behind-the-scenes look at a group of the least important people working at one of the world’s most important places: the United Nations.

Jay Chandrasekhar is set to direct, with Andy Schwartz (Scrubs) and comedians Jason and Randy Sklar writing.

Seth Rogen Is a Hot, Bearded Man, and We Need to Respect Him as Such

  • Popsugar
We all know and love Seth Rogen from his long list of hilarious comedies, including The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Pineapple Express, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and, my personal favorite, Superbad. While he was always good-looking, Seth has gotten even hotter recently, and we can't believe that there's an actual man who is this funny and this hot.

Seth has had a busy year, aside from gracing the cover of GQ's Summer issue and making us all foam at the mouths. He was the voice actor for Pumbaa in the remake of Disney's The Lion King and produced the highly anticipated Good Boys. And when Seth isn't in front or behind the camera, he's probably off being all types of adorable with his wife Lauren Miller, who was also in Superbad. Now that you're up-to-date on Seth's latest projects, let's show you why he's the definition of Hot Boy Summer.

Good Boys Review: A Hilarious & Raunchy Tween Adventure

Good Boys Review: A Hilarious & Raunchy Tween Adventure
Good Boys is a raunchy tween adventure that will have you rolling in the aisles. The film is absolutely hysterical; ninety glorious minutes of nonstop laughter. Several colleagues showered effusive praise after seeing the premiere at the SXSW film festival. My expectations walking in were quite high. I am pleased to report that Good Boys delivers on the strong word of mouth marketing. It pushes the envelope with adolescent hijinks, but has a sweetness that tempers the raw vulgarity.

Three sixth grade boys from an Illinois suburb have a serious dilemma. They want to attend the kissing party of a popular classmate, but honestly have no idea what the actual act of kissing entails. Max (Jacob Tremblay) wants his first smooch to be with Brixlee (Millie Davis), a girl he's pined for from afar. The kindhearted and honest Lucas (Keith L. Williams) supports Max, but is devastated after learning his parents will divorce.

Full Cast Confirmed For Stephen King’s The Stand Miniseries

The new miniseries version of Stephen King’s The Stand is starting to shape up with major cast announcements emerging for the series, which is likely to premiere in 2020. The recent CBS Television Critics Association presentation included a lot of new casting information about the production, as well as the close involvement of Stephen King in the finale. There may not be any major surprises in the cast, but to us it seems like a solid enough choice for the CBS All Access series.

James Marsden will be taking on the role of Stu Redman, the nominal male lead of King’s novel, building off the actor’s strong recent turns in Westworld and Dead to Me. Another key casting is Odessa Young, who will play Frannie Goldsmith, a young woman from Maine who has to deal with a pregnancy in a post-apocalyptic America. Young is less well-known than Marsden,

Amazon Prime Video’s ‘The Boys’ Review

Credit: Amazon Prime Video

Superheroes have moved in some exciting directions over the past decade. The once judged and frowned-upon genre, has now been elevated to previously unimaginable heights. Almost every single property under the sun has been snapped up by Hollywood at this point. Everything from talking raccoons, life-sized ants, and telepathic caterpillars have appeared on the big screen now. To put it bluntly, no matter how beloved these characters are, there’s no denying how ludicrously surreal and outlandish the whole thing has become. One could say then, that it’s the perfect time for ‘The Boys’ to come and shake things up.

The series is developed by the all-star team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, alongside the man behind the ironically longevous Supernatural, Eric Kripke. Based on the obscure comic book of the same name, The Boys arrives at a particularly interesting time for society and pop culture.
