Campion then confesses that he helped Judge Lobbett to disappear for his own safety but believes that the time is right for him to re-appear and act as bait to flush out and identify Simister. Mr. Kettle: Look at these clothes - sopping wet. Now what does that show?

Mystery Mile: Part 2

Judge Lobbett had gone missing but it could all just be subterfuge by Campion. Take the Judge to a better hiding place.

This means the search for Judge Lobbett in the East Anglian countryside is a smokescreen.

Campion needs to discover the notorious Simister. It seems a children's story holds an important clue.

This was a largely enjoyable mystery, it moved well and wraps up other threads to the story as well.
