Trivia

The birdlike mechanical sentinels that launch an attack against the team of specialists were a recycled character design that was previously used to portray both the swoopers in "The Infinite Vulcan" and the Maravel dragons in the episode immediately before this one, "The Eye of the Beholder". New backgrounds were added for the reuse of the footage, though the actual animation remained the same. See more »

As good as it gets for Animated Trek!
28 September 2016 | by idahobeefSee all my reviews

Wow I just love love loved this animated episode of Star Trek! ST snobs wont like it, but it was very well done. In fact, those snobs don't like ANY of the animated Star Treks, which is sad indeed. In this episode there was excitement and danger, a perilous journey, and new aliens galore! Because it was so well done, this episode inspired me to write in the Star Trek universe. One of the best things about animation is you can create aliens that cannot be made on the regular ST shows; the bug alien, or the can alien, or bird alien in this episode. For animated Star Trek, it doesn't get much better than this! I especially like Skorr and his people, and the possibility of a interstellar jihad. Thats a wicked cool concept that really hasn't been done in ST. AAA+++
