The Bayside High School, Class of 1993 buried a metal cylindrical time capsule beneath the football field to be opened by the class of 2003. The capsule contained only a VHS tape. Though VHS tapes would soon be obsolete, as late as 2005, 94+ million Americans still owned VHS-format VCRs. The last standalone JVC VHS VCR was produced on October 28, 2008. See more
This episode is supposed to take place in 2003 and Mr. Belding is still the principal at Bayside and was still in his original office. But in the second season of Saved by the Bell: The New Class, Mr. Belding got a new office after Bayside got remodeled and by the end of that series Mr. Belding chose to leave Bayside to become a dean at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga near the end of 1999.
