Storyline

While Jim Brass is in surgery the team has two cases to tackle. The first involves a man, found decapitated on train tracks, with a 19-inch waist. Further investigation reveals that he wore a wasp corset, as was fashionable with gentlemen during the Civil War. The other crime scene is in a hotel room where a man is found in his boxers, dead, on the bed. Scattered around the room are evidence of a wild night of alcohol, drugs, and sex. Ellie, Brass's estranged daughter, comes to visit her father from LA. Written by Ploy P.

A Fitting Season Finale For A Show That Is Sinking Fast
8 May 2007 | by ccthemovieman-1See all my reviews

This takes up where last week's show ended, with "Captain Jim Brass" (Paul Guilfolye) shot. We find out he is seriously wounded and a life-threatening decision has to be made regarding whether to take a chance with a risky operation.

Meanwhile, Gil gets called out for a bizarre case in which a man is found dead on railroad tracks. He has been decapitated and has an usually small waist. It turns out caused of death was a bullet to the head, but his organs have been moved out of place with pressure on that waist area for years. This guy suffered for a long time. Nick finds the head down the tracks somewhere.

In a second case, a man is found lying dead in his bed in a hotel. There is drugs, alcohol, a gun, just about "all seven sins located here," according to Catherine, who is investigating with Warrick.

The first case gets the main focus and winds up being out corsets and Civil War reenactments. The second case is about a hooker.

This show's final episode of the season, sadly, is a good example of low-class it has dropped over the years with a lot of sleazy jokes, many by CSI personnel especially Marg Helgenberger's "Catherine" who really has become hard-looking and cheap. At the end, we see a quick glimpse of the boss of the CSI and Sara, both in the bedroom. I guess that was supposed to be these slime-ball writers dramatic ending to the season. That about kind of sums up what I'm talking about....and I didn't even mention Brass's ultra-snotty daughter.

This is a big reason I now rate this below the CSI-NY and Miami shows, which deal more in crime while LV has become kinky sex and smart-ass dialog.

At least we find out good news regarding Lt. Brass. He gives a thumbs up sign just before the sleazy ending to the show. For years, I have this show a "thumbs up" but that was when it was a crime program.
