An all black cavalry unit sets out on a special mission.
Unlike the plot listed, the story is not about one black man in a cavalry unit but about an all black cavalry unit that has a special assignment.
An all black US Cavalry unit sets out on a special assignment. Only the unit Sergeant knows about the instructions and where to be at a certain time. When the unit arrives they pick up an Indian Chief that is to be taken to an outpost for talks about a peace treaty. But some Indians are not happy with the treaty and will try to keep the Chief from making the conference.
When the Sergeant is killed by the rival Indians, it places Corporal Smith (Sammy Davis Jr) in charge of the unit. Cpl. Smith has seen Indians attack a village and has little care for the Indians. He rather see a dead Indian than a life one. But the Sergeant has given the Corporal an order.
An interesting story that played out well on the screen. Mr Davis did a nice job that made for an entertaining watch. There was a few rough spots but overall it was a fine watch.
