Storyline

Duke was escorting five wagons who come under attack by Cheyenne Indians. Four of the wagons panic and are swarmed by the attackers. The fifth wagon with Duke is stopped when the wagon tongue breaks and is under siege. The other man Jim Collins is killed leaving Duke with three women. They are saved by a man named Blane Wessels who appears on the scene. One of the women, Minna whose husband was killed in the attack, is pregnant and soon to give birth. Unfortunately the Indians are certain to return, so the group finds temporary shelter in the relay station, Blue Water, after the kill the lone brave guarding it. Once inside, they find the wounded owner Ed Graham hiding in a hole under the floor along with guns and ammo. Though willing to risk death to fight for the others, Wessels still blames himself for the death of his own wife a few months before, and has become overly cynical and fatalistic, a fact which Duke finds troubling and even potentially dangerous for the group. Tower Of Strength
15 February 2018 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

This episode has Duke Shannon escorting a new member joining the Wagon Train when the covered wagon is attacked by Indians. Don C. Harvey is killed with his pregnant wife Virginia Christine in the wagon hysterical and Juanita Moore being a tower of strength. Outside is Denny Miller and Lory Patrick holding the Indians off.

The group is saved when Robert Colbert in the title role rides recklessly into the midst of the Indians killing them. Reckless, but the other's lives are saved.

The whole group takes shelter in a nearby stagecoach relay station where Douglas Fowley is found in the cellar, wounded and alive with a lot of ammunition and a few rifles. They can stand them off for a bit if help arrives soon.

Virginia Christine doesn't want to go on, Lory Patrick is worried, and Colbert just doesn't care. The strong one is Juanita Moore and I'm not remembering too many other black players in Wagon Train's history up to now.

Implicit in Moore's performance is that this woman survived slavery so she's not willing to lay down and die. She likes her freedom and wants to taste more of it. She's the one you don't forget in this story.

Watch this one for her.
