Whilst on a planet to negotiate a trade treaty, SG1 are shown a meteor shower called the 'Fire Rain' by the locals. They are very concerned, when one of the larger meteors enters the atmosphere in a near miss. Carter checks the astronomical data and Jackson the archaeological finds and they discover that the meteorites may hit the ground with incredible force. They try to evacuate the villagers, but in the process, the meteorites start striking the ground and whilst O'Neill is away trying to find some stray villagers, the Stargate is hit by a large meteorite. The SGC try to dial back to the planet, but find that the gate is buried and is lying flat. Can Carter come up with a way to get back to the planet, or will O'Neill be trapped there forever?
Did You Know?
Unlike most episodes, SG-1 has already been on the planet, namely Edora, for several months when the episode starts and the team knows the inhabitants well and vice versa. See more
Carter shows a detailed sky map of the planet's solar system, including its asteroid belt.
This would only be possible with a number of large telescopes and years of astronomic viewings. Or if there were satellites in orbit from which they could obtain photos and radio images.
As the episode relates, the SG team had only been on the planet for a week at most. There couldn't have been such a map, especially one which also showed an asteroid debris field. See more

Is he always like this?
