After a Starfleet rescue ship, the Dauntless, is located, an alien visitor interprets a damaged data stream from Starfleet Command. The ship features a novel "slipstream" drive that offers quick trip home to earth. After her initial delight is tempered by suspicion and Seven of Nine proposes to remain in the Delta Quadrant Captain Janeway re-interprets the message and accosts the alien whom takes her and Seven-of-Nine away on the Dauntless. He reveals that her assistance to the Borg against Species 8472 led to Borg domination of a large portion of the Delta Quadrant and he intends to make her pay by returning to his home world inside Borg space. The alien ship uses a type of hologram to make the internal systems look like a Star Fleet vessel. Once Janeway has figured out that it is a trick, the alien deactivates the hologram on the bridge. Later Janeway and Seven make their way to engineering which still has Star Fleet style control panels. There would no longer be a need for deception at this time. See more »

Capt. Kathryn Janeway: A way home. We've been waiting for this moment for years. Why don't I feel more enthusiastic?

In the Fold?
3 September 2018 | by HitchcocSee all my reviews

This is a nice ending to the Fourth Season. An alien named Arturis has amazing skills. He can read and interpret numerous languages. Neelix brings him on board after a planetary shopping trip. He is seemingly kind and thoughtful. But there is a mystery. Soon a ship appears with a Starfleet signature and things go sour. This ship is the answer to their dreams (or so they think). This is a good episode because of the continuing evolution of Seven. I wonder if her conflicts with Janeway are over or she will continue to be a constructive thorn in the side. The episode is well paced and doesn't have some of the maudlin stuff that sometimes invades this series.
