Goofs

When the doctor walks with Freya in the forest she shows him a powerful plant. The doctor, who has encyclopedic knowledge identifies the plant as a fungus called Amanita Muscaria and says it is poisonous. If the writers had chosen any other mushroom, this would be an obscure goof noticed only by mycologists or other mycophiles. But the Amanita muscaria is the most readily and broadly identified mushroom in the world - the big red one with the white dots. What is shown is a handful of white flimsy mushrooms, perhaps the edible oyster mushrooms or white chantrelles. See more »

Quotes

Freya: [about Beowulf] He was like no other. Hair straight and raven-black; eyes bright with fierce fire - the burning gaze of a hero.
Lieutenant Tuvok: [to Chakotay] Grand eloquence notwithstanding, that would qualify as a description of Mr. Kim.

I wonder what percentage of Star Trek incarnations have an encounter with a malfunctioning holodeck. This device is so beyond reality that no one ever explains how it works. In this one, Harry gets messed up in a Beowulf novel setting. Of course, there is another alien presence that gets into the mix and he and others find themselves captive. The high point is the involvement of the Doctor who, because he is a hologram, gets into the action. Hs character is so much more interesting than most on board the ship.
