Storyline

When Lisa's saxophone gets flattened by a truck,Homer recalls how he came to buy it for her. Bart had just started school but Lisa was so gifted he was told learning an instrument would nurture her talents and he spent the money ear-marked for the air conditioning system on it, even having it engraved - after a fashion. Now is the time to spend what it is left in the air conditioning fund on another sax. Written by don @ minifie-1

Trivia

Because this is a flashback episode in some scenes you can see 'Snowball', the first cat, which is white. Every other cat in the Simpsons has been named after 'Snowball' - and hasn't been white: 'Snowball II' up to 'Snowball V', except for the cat Coltrane, which dies in the same episode it's introduced in. Goofs

During the scene where Homer has stolen Flanders' air conditioner, Rod and Todd can be seen and look like they're still 9 and 10 years old. Despite the fact that the scene is a flashback and takes place several years earlier. See more »

One of the Best Flashback Episodes,
17 February 2015 | by lesleyharris30See all my reviews

Lisa's Sax is a fantastic Simpsons episode with a very well written storyline and a ton of very funny scenes. It is certainly one of my favourite flashback episodes, learning about how Lisa got her saxophone was a story that felt necessary to know, seeing that it is the item we associate her with the most. The episode is very funny and the humour is fairly different, mainly because it is written by Al Jean,he has written some of my favourite episodes,I really love his style of writing,it is quite sarcastic at times and self aware, and it is seen very clearly in this episode.Lisa's Sax is a very fun and enjoyable Simpsons episode.

Homer tells Lisa the story of how she discovered she loved playing the saxophone.
