Storyline

Christmas marks the first time writer Betty Roberts (Amanda Naughton) has planned to take any time off and has finished all her scripts ahead of time so she can go home to Elkhart, Indiana. Mr. Eldridge (George Hall) takes a mysterious phone call suggesting that famous singer Gloria Redmond (Betty Buckley) is going to make an appearance at WENN, which seems unlikely since she has not performed for a year. Scott Sherwood (Kevin O'Rourke) has been planning to find a surprise guest anyway, so he orders Betty to promote the appearance, but withhold the name, in case it turns out to be a misunderstanding. In the meantime, Gil Martin (Peter Noone), a music show host from the BBC, shows up and explains he is there in exchange for WENN sending its personalities to England earlier in the year. Rollie Pruitt (Jonathan Freeman), representing the owners, has arrived to go over the station's books with Sherwood, and warns ominously, before he goes to lunch, that changes are afoot. In keeping with the Christmas theme, the opening credits include graphics of poinsettia in the corners. Then, after the theme song is over, instead of the camera panning left from the radio it pans right where we see a man hanging decorations and a woman stringing popcorn in the green room, followed by Jeff and Gertie decorating the hallway.
