In the 1779 prologue, Captain James Cook's men fight a village of Hawaiians who worship Lono. This is all true history; Cook visited the village twice. The first visit was peaceful, but on the second, quarrels broke out between Cook's men and the natives. Cook was killed and the Hawaiians buried him. See more
According to Sydney and Tony, Captain Cook's men massacred the locals and stole the idol of Lono. The locals stole a small boat from Cook, and fought his men on the beach, forcing him to retreat. This is when Cook got killed and his body claimed by the Hawaiians. No idol of Lono was stolen. See more
