Brian is anxious to reopen a case which he failed to solve as a serving officer thirty years earlier, the disappearance of Donna Adamson, now known to be dead. After an acrimonious exchange between Donna's widower and Brian, the team learn that Donna's friend Jill and another woman, Karen Brown, also went missing at the same time, prompting them to suspect a serial killer. The link is Eric Grant, landlord to all three, but Brian is not convinced of his guilt and is proved right when one of the missing women, still alive, explains all. Written by don @ minifie-1

Confusing and unbelievable
9 August 2015 | by ctyankee1See all my reviews

Donna a married black woman has been missing with her baby son for many years. She is married to a white man Paul Adamson and the baby is "black" in color. The father Paul Adamson/Hugh Frazer plays Hastings in Poirot. Paul did not want to be a father at that time but when the baby was born he started to love him.

This is weird because in an episode of George Gently-"Gently in the Blood" a young unmarried "white" woman had a baby by her lover that is "white" too. The episode shows she gave birth to a "black" baby. The lover/father did not know he was a Arab and did not think he was the father after seeing the baby. They show a "black" baby not brownish like an Arab. So I don't understand why the Adamson's baby was "black" like the mother and not "white" like the father and the mom in Gently's is white and her lover looks white but the baby his black in color.

Anyway another woman went missing on the same day. She was Donna's friend. As usual the husband of Donna and the husband of Jill are suspected in the wife's missing and probably death. Jill also has mental problems. There are other male suspects who might have killed them both.

The intrigue is good and acting is good. The man that plays PC Clark/Chiké Okonkwo is very professional and black. This episode included talks of blacks and whites intermarriage. I suspect it was not any easy subject for him to listen to or act in. The words used by actors was tasteful not tacky.

When you hear what happens at the end and why it is asinine. There is no justice, a builder's wife leaves him and he did not commit any murders. So many people were suspected for killing these women and their missing has nothing to do with any of the accusers.

Stupid ending, pity for the criminals no justice for the suspects little consolation for the husbands.

Waste of time.
