Trivia

Spot, the family's 'pet dragon', is compared in the newspaper article to the size of the Loch Ness Monster. The scientific community regards Nessie (its affectionate name) as a phenomenon without biological basis, explaining sightings as hoaxes, wishful thinking, or the misidentification of mundane objects. Alternatively, different sources claim that Spot was recycled from the Tyrannosaurus model from One Million B.C. (1940) or that it was designed by Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis and assembled by some builders, or a dinosaur model from The Land Unknown (1957). See more »

Spot Runs Away
18 October 2018 | by Jimmy_the_Gent4See all my reviews

Spot takes refuge in the sewers and Herman goes after him.

A pretty good episode, it begins with Grandpa coming with an electronic voting machine just in time for election day. Funniest scenes are some fast motion ones that were frequently used in the series. One is scene of some workmen (one played by Robert Mitchum's brother John) who run away at the sight of Herman. The newspapers think Spot and Herman are some kind of weird creatures and the Mayor tries to dynamite them. Grandpa tries to save them in another funny fast motion scene.
