Storyline

Joe Mannix is on a ski vacation to the Sierras where be becomes acquainted with two young women, Barbara and Marie. Barbara disappears on the slopes, and is later found dead after an apparent ski accident. But then Mannix learns that Barbara and Marie had switched ski outfits, making it easy to confuse one for the other on the ski runs. He begins to suspect that Barbara's death may have been to cover up an attempt on Marie's life, or an attempt to kidnap Marie -- especially when someone tries to kill him as well. Goofs

Concerned about Marie's safety, Joe Mannix goes to pick her up in her hotel room to drive her back to Los Angeles. He parks near a small bridge over a stream that separates the spot where he parked from her room, and the building he approaches is a one-story blue building with a red door, surrounded by a blue deck. But when they're shown exiting the building, it's a two-story brown and white chalet surrounded by a brown wooden deck. Furthermore, when they reach the area where his car is parked, both the stream and the bridge have disappeared, and a different building is behind the car. See more »

Quotes

Joe Mannix: Well, it's all set. You got a seat on the 11:00 flight. I'll drive you to the airport. Something tells me you're not going to get much more in there.
Marie Fenlon: Something tells me you're going to have to close it.
Joe Mannix: Say when.
Marie Fenlon: [sighs] I think that's everything. Ah, my book.
[notices a picture of her and Barbara and looks at it]
Joe Mannix: What is it, Marie?
Marie Fenlon: This was taken a week ago, the day Barbara and I arrived.
[gives the picture to Mannix]
Marie Fenlon: I guess it's the last picture ever taken of her.
Joe Mannix: With your ski outfits on, it's...

Quite good--mostly because of the wonderful change of locales.
21 November 2014 | by MartinHaferSee all my reviews

When "Mannix" first began, the show seemed a lot fresher and had more adventurous settings. Over time, the exotic locations seemed to all be around Los Angeles and there was a certain sameness about many of the shows. They were good...but similar. Because of this, I was thrilled as I watched "Cold Trail" as it begins on the ski slopes! But it isn't 100% unique, as soon some young ladies who Joe meets and befriends are set upon by EVIL!!! One is murdered and the other seems like she might be next.

While the reason why all this was happening seemed more than a tad unlikely, it also was novel and the show worked pretty well overall. An interesting change of pace.
