Storyline

Stanley is visited by a police lieutenant who advises him that the Lost and Found Department might be used as a "drop" in a drug deal, though only after a couple of dry runs. Stanley recalls a suspicious incident that very day in which one man brought in a package, and then another man claimed it almost immediately. The lieutenant gives Stanley his telephone number and enlists Stanley as his "inside man" to help catch the drug dealers -- although as the possible danger becomes apparent, Stanley begins to have second thoughts about his public-spiritedness. Stanley Belmont, Undercover Man
6 December 2016 | by JordanThomasHallSee all my reviews

A man brings a package in to the lost and found department where Stanley (Dom DeLuise) and his friend Bummy (Jack Knight) work. Another man named "Mr. Smith" arrives a few minutes later to pick up the package. At home, Stanley's dinner is interrupted by Columbo lookalike Lt. Milford with the police department's Bureau of Narcotics. He informs Stanley that they believe the lost and found will be used as a drop for drugs. Stanley tells Bummy about the situation the next day, comparing it to the film "The French Connection". They become suspicious about a woman named "Miss Jones" who comes to pick up a package. Lt. Milford learns that the drop will occur the next morning and he will be there with undercover agents surrounding the place in all disguises. There is a funny moment where Stanley points a sub sandwich with a planted microphone at the man who comes for the package. The mic falls out of the sandwich and Stanley and Lt. Milford are held at gunpoint as hostages. Can they be saved by the unlikeliest of heroes?
