Did You Know?

NBC intended this season to be the last of the series. As a result, Michael Landon decided to conclude the story by having Walnut Grove collapse and die, economically and the Ingall's following Mary to Winoka to begin a new life. However, due to unexpectedly high ratings for these episodes, NBC had a change of heart and renewed the series for a fifth season and beyond. See more »

Just after Charles and Caroline visit Mary and are heading back to their hotel, we see Caroline standing just outside of the entrance on a rainy evening just as a stagecoach pulls away from the curb. We then see Charles inside with Caroline in bed. This is because this is reused footage from "To Live With Fear Part 2" when Charles leaves to go find work. See more »

Adam Kendall: Don't use your fingers.
Mary Ingalls: If you don't like watching a blind person eat, why don't you just get out?
Adam Kendall: All you think about is being blind. You happen to be a perfectly normal person who just happens not to be able to see with her eyes. When are you gonna get on with living?
Mary Ingalls: Get out!
Adam Kendall: Pitying yourself won't help. Blind people are just as good or as bad as everybody else. You're not special.
Mary Ingalls: I told you to get out!

Adam Kendall: The roast beef was good. You'll find the towels on the shelf ...

The thing that stood out to me the most in this episode is that fact that Mary was finished with blind school and on her way to teach at a blind school - and Grace hadn't aged at all!

This episode picks up where the previous left off. Mary is being shipped off to a blind school against her will. She immediately meets Adam, her teacher, and things do not go well. Adam has the patience of Job, though, as he lets her throw her little fits then realize that she's not the only one suffering in the world. A bit too quickly, Mary comes around and becomes a model students.

The title of this episode is from the last line of this second part. Adam says it to Mary just before they...Well, I won't ruin it for anyone, but if you've seen future episode I'm sure you already know what happened!

Another excellent episode!
