The re-boot of "JAG" after the transfer from NBC to CBS
12 July 2018 | by hindsonevansmikeSee all my reviews

The start of Season Two sees the arrival of the Sarah MacKenzie character (who called herself "Mac" on her first meeting with Harm in the White House Rose Garden). She would work alongside the Harmon Rabb character for the next nine seasons and 200-plus episodes.

Following the dropping of the fledgling series by NBC towards the end of its first season, Bellisario found a new home at CBS and the second season was commissioned. This succeeded in establishing an adventure-based theme and beginning the task of integrating the new characters into the ensemble cast which many of us came to enjoy and appreciate during Season One.

This episode re-writes Harm's back-story. This information is particularly useful in the matter of his lost love, because "Skeleton Crew" (filmed as the season finale for Season One but never shown when NBC dumped the series)would not be seen until 1999 after it was caught up in the abrupt termination of the NBC deal at the end of Season One.

The interplay between the new leading pair is established and a new working relationship begins.

You could watch and enjoy this first episode of the re-booted "JAG" without ever watching the first (NBC) season (but you would be missing the Meg Austin-Tracy Needham first season and the Kate Pike-Andrea Parker original 1995 pilot).

And thus JAG Mark Two was born......
